Re: Garage needed Southampton
If you find one and you are not familiar with the city I could give you some idea if the area is likely to cause problems with security.

Re: Weber 32/36 carb
I had one of those on a tuned 1300 Polo that pushed out 90bhp so I would have to say it's much too big for a standard Morris engine.

Re: Annoying knock
why didn't use fes up to this at the start For the simple reason that when first mentioned the incident some months ago I got nowhere in finding the problem. This time I thought I would describe it back to front, as it were. 8) It is only a possible cause still. I use the car infrequently and with ...

Re: Annoying knock
As for possible cause, I believe it has come about as a result of a slight mishap involving an un-removed spanner on a pully nut that rapidly came into rapid contact with bodywork when the starter was turned.
Does that make it any clearer?

Re: Annoying knock
it sounds like your mainshaft/layshaft bearings could be the problem I do hope so. I have a couple of spare boxes but no spare modified 1275 ! :o If it was the prob you mentioned would you expect the noise to be significantly improved whilst in gear? I'm not aware of the noise at all whilst driving...

Re: Car Cover
Thought I'd pass on my experiences with a convertible and cover. I bought a £40 'breathable' cover from a motor factors and was quite impressed. With the windows down a inch it did keep close to dry inside and out but there was a lot of fine dust getting through to the hood so I slipped a plastic sh...

Re: Annoying knock
Thanks, but they are brand new. Had a good shufty now and found the exhaust is not the culprit. It's coming from deep in te bowels of the engine. it's very obvious on tickover and less pronounced as the revs rise. Depressing the clutch definitely reduces the noise. I'm thinking the worst. Whats the ...

Re: Annoying knock
If only it were that easy. Its a 3 into 1 system, oversized for the 1275 engine so it's pretty reluctant to be adjusted to suit.

Annoying knock
When the engine is on tickover I hear an annoying knock. It seems to dissapear as the revs rise and I suspect it is the LCB manifold rattling against the bulkhead aperture. It's not easy to see that area as it is on the inner lip so can anyone suggest a temporary way of moving/tilting the engine tow...
