Re: Bangernomics.

Best bargain I heard of was a work mate who bought a j plate Cavalier about 8 years ago from a Vauxhall main dealer. He drove it for the next 3 years and only had to replace the fuel in the tank and the alternator. I left that job around then and i wouldn't be suprised if he still has it now. The ca...

Re: Barn Find

I can assure you that here and there are barns with real gems 'hidden' inside. I have seen a barn with at least half a dozen Minors ripe for a keen owner and not one of them was a shed. I even took one home with me. It was solid as a rock and the best Minor I ever had.

Re: Any advice on convertibles getting wet appreciated.

For years we had a huge condensation problem in our house that was cured practically overnight with a portable dehumidifier. I cannot understate just how efficient these things can be. It was about £100 online but, for the effort and heartache it has eliminated I would have gladly paid double. I am ...

Re: A good offer?

All valid points, thank you. I would like to think in this highly litigated world that the college concerned will ensure that I have a fully functioning, safe engine at the end of the day. These places are very impressive these days. The college in question has the sort of spacious, spotless, regime...

A good offer?

I have been contacted by a large engineering college who have offered to refurbish the engine in my traveller (currently still to be restored and with an unproven engine). I would pay only for the parts required.
Does that sound like a good offer? Anyone like to suggest any potential issues?

Re: So!

Anyone located the "Northern Powerhouse"?
Reminds me of the HS2 proposal and that I read that over 100 years ago a railway line from London to the North was constructed to the continental loading gauge. It's the only North-South mainline that was abandoned!

'In future' is old news. it's replacement 'going forward' is ideal for any dynamic, win-win organisation.

Re: Another convertible I have questions about.

Don't remember my tourer looking like that. What is the blue grey horizontal panel above the split? Looks like a trim panel with a beaded edge.
Another clue to a genuine tourer is the absence of a courtesy light trip switch between the door hinges on the drivers (right) side.

Re: Wipers, are they all rubbish?

Have you tried Rain-X additive? Rub it on the screen as directed and it makes the water bead and run off. I have used it on all my different cars over the years. It's efficiency can vary from car to car (I think it depends on the aerodynamics and angle of screen) but at it's best I have driven at mo...

Re-registering a Moggie

I have a 1960 traveller that hasn't been on the road since the previous owner laid it up in the mid 80's. It needs to be re-registered and I tried to find the relevant form on the DVLA site and don't know now if what they have sent me is right after all. It is the V55/5 and the required info is very...

5 years of cobwebs - me, not the car.

Hi everybody. It's been a looooong time.... but I am ready to start work with Mogs again. Horace the clipper blue 1960 Traveller has been uncovered and is ready for a bit of attention. Trouble is, it might have been too long. I can't remember a thing! Ware do I start? Who is this MOWOG person? Where...
