Well Done again.

It really doesn't matter what it is you've done, it' the feeling of satisfaction that you've done it!

(I got a lot of satisfaction from changing the side/stop bulbs the other evening - took a little re-shaping of the reflectors as well!)

drop an asprin into your battery that helps recharge it its the same as the proper things you're trying to find and a lot cheaper. Not quite the same chemicals! EDTA is a complexing agent and may help dissolve metals - salicylic acid will react with iron (certainly) but probably not give the same r...

JTD, All the Windows system files are "hidden files" - this is normal - so don't panic! They're marked as hidden to stop the owner from seeing them. If the owner sees them, then they could delete som, and the Windows won't work.... Slow response usually means that the PC is trying to do to...

IIRC (I don't have the policy to hand), the insurance cover includes the car, spare parts in the garage, tools, third party liability even when the car's "off the road"... There is a newish requirement that all vehicles are insured (even if not kept on the road) - I believe, so you may be a...

Just a point for those considering acetone as an additive. It does have other uses which may cause you some grief:- It is used in the production of some illegal substances. It has been used in the production of "home-made" explosives. It is used with GRP fabrications. If you start to order...

Hi Kate, Really sorry to hear of the problems... If I remember correctly, the time limitation runs from when it would be possible to discover the defect - i.e. if it is completely welded in, the malfeaser can't claim limitations as easily as if it were a paint defect. Also, there is a limit on the s...

Neil, If you make sure that you have the car booked into the garage for work to be done - i.e you're not just "turning up", then you are not in danger from having a road-side inspection. And make sure it's booked in for the MOT as well. You can drive a car without a valid MOT on the roads ...

Hi Barry, Just a thought - are you only able to ship car parts etc? The reason I ask is that our sailing dinghy can have carbon fioble spars (if I can afford them!) - there's a company in Sydney that's about half the UK cost - but the shipping costs make it about the same as the UK suppliers. We're ...

Just to emphasise that you'll need front seats with headrests for the test (and for any instructor you employ). You can't just add headrests (unfortunately) - they have to be part of the seat - ie the old "slot on" headrests are not suitable. You'll need to look up (search) this forum for ...

Hi YvetteMarie,

Maybe just a paperwork glitch on the DVLA part.
I had something very similar - DVLA reported the car as unlicenced while all the time I had the disc in the window (a legitimate one).

If you have the paperwork to hand give them a ring to sort it out - they're usually helpful

ike,

You must be thankful that
Im afraid that once again, family requirements conspired to rob me of the time to do the job so its back on hold again
:)

With the local weather this week-end you wouldn't have been able to see any leaks from the system!

Cheers.

One problem I had (depends on the replacement pump) The locating pins (on the front of the block) actually hit the inner end of the matching depressions of the pump.... This meant that the pump would just not seal. Do offer the pump up first and check it seats ok. (eventually I realised this, and us...

Pre 'O' level chemistry:- connect a copper wire to each teminal (small bell wire's ok). Cut a potato in half, and stick the wires into the potato anout 1-2 inches apart. The one that develops the green colour is connected to the positive terminal. (and you can use the other half-potato to wipe on th...

The Webasto roofs were used on Moggies - my uncle's 948 had one - I'm not sure that they actually looked very good, but certainly allowed some more fresh air in!

IIRC they were domed to follow the roof line, so they may have been custom fittings.

Cheers.

Good luck Rebecca!

While you're having your rear end looked at, Kate will be down the pub for lunch!

Seriously - the Pub's recommended... (so's JLH!)

My only problem coming back from JLH was the fuel pump (typical SU problems)

I've googled a bit and found some info:- http://www.ireland.com/newspaper/motors/2006/0823/1155714926135.html Apparently there's a serious comment that pre-1990 cars are unlikely to be suitable for the E85 - there is a risk of "corroding" rubber. I guess that the real problm here is the pu...
