Getting a MM back on the road

Hi everyone and happy new year, My MM convertible has been sat under the car port for the past 12 months while Ive been doing the extension on the house. ( Hi Ivor - many thanks for sending through the heater valve, it arrived yesterday).

It looks like I need a gasket to connect the heater valve, can anyone tell me if I can make one or do I need to purchase a specific one?. If make one - what material should I use?.

Thanks.

Mike Shipman.

Hi Ivor, I just e-mailed you to say that I'd buy your valve and have just seen your note on the message board. I will indeed check out to see if its an air lock, if its not, I will buy your valve. Thanks for the advice!. Thanks to all the rest of you guys too for your responses. Regards, Mike Shipman

Does anyone know of a dye which I can use to colour the very faded (but still sound) red vinyl door panels in my '68 convertible?. I was hoping to renew the whole of the interior but funds will not run to Newton Commercial prices, I am therefor on the lookout for a suitable pair of black adjustable ...

As I cannot afford those nice leather seats from Newton Commercial, I've been looking in the local "Free Ads" paper. I've heard that MG Metro seats are a good option (with the appropriate base fitted) but there are none available at present. Does anyone know how well Golf GTi or Fiesta XR2...

When removing the oil filler cap today to top up with oil, one of the two studs which the cap locks onto came off (not into the engine thankfully). I replaced the cap which has held more or less in place with the remaining stud, might this cause a problem (lower oil pressure?) and if so, any suggest...

Kevin - thanks for the info on Southampyton City College, I checked their site and their courses are for people in the trade to do NVQ 1, 2 or 3 - one day pw for one year. I was hoping to find an evening class to introduce me to the basics of servicing and maintenance. I'll keep looking around. Ian ...
