Re: won't start - now intermittent loss of power

Lou a last resort as you seem to have tried everything, can I assume the rotor arm is of the type without a rivet as the ones with rivets have been know to cause problems similar to yours just a thought in case as even the new electronic dizzys don't always have the better type of rotor arm.

Re: Unusual Light Switch Issue

Its the later switch on a 68 and I haven't touched the lights so just wondered if it could be a faulty switch or something, I will look into it more when I have a bit of time as its not urgent as at least they are all working.

Unusual Light Switch Issue

Hi all when my switch is in the first position both the side and headlights come on together 8) and the second position does not appear to do anything instead of side lights first and headlamps second, so I was just wondering if anyone has experienced this before as I am not sure how long its been g...

Re: Smoke from engine when driving before fully warm

My Traveller has a 1275 midget engine that was rebuilt under 10,000 miles ago. To add to my original post oil pressure is 60lbs when hot and running and 30lbs on tickover when set up on a rolling road it was producing 60+bhp so no engine wear issues. After following Richards link this does appear t...

Re: Smoke from engine when driving before fully warm

Well it looks like its oil mist being drawn up into the carb though the breather pipe that is the problem when the engine is warming up with cooler temperatures. I have had a look through the MG posts and it appears that it is down to crankcase pressure and there is mention of vacuum issues ( not th...

Re: Smoke from engine when driving before fully warm

Hi Richard what can I say you hit the nail on the head I just popped out to have a look at my breather pipe to the carb and there was a trace of oil on the end so it looks like I have found the problem and just now need the cure, looking at the MG link you gave there seems to be 2 different breather...

Re: Smoke from engine when driving before fully warm

I would say it's grey blue, it doesn't do it on start up only after driving 1 - 2 miles and it only does it once no matter how long the journey and it's never done it in traffic, when rebuilt the head had new guides and valves, that's why I am puzzled.

Smoke from engine when driving before fully warm

My Traveller has a 1275 midget engine that was rebuilt under 10,000 miles ago. This problem occurred occasionally in the last couple of years when on warm up normally after 1 to 2 miles a smell can be detected a bit like oil heating up and then shortly afterwards when accelerating a puff of smoke (s...

Re: 1275 timing chain

The rear plate needs to be the thick one from a Midget, or something with the same thickness, then the ribcase Minor gearbox will fit straight on Just a small point richard how would you suggest the standard clutch return spring is mounted as the midget back plate doesn't have the little extra flan...
