Re: Clutch lever return spring

Phil and Sirrom, thank you for this great information, I believe I can now see clearly what happened, check out this idea and give me your thoughts. The photo of the Morris 8 gear box with the spring backs up Ian Harris's information with the spring number being X15605, this of course was for a RHD ...

Clutch lever return spring

Attached is a copy of the clutch schematic for my Series MM, please note part number 29, spring - clutch withdrawal lever, I have 3 gear boxes and none of them have this spring so I asked around and nobody has ever seen one, I'm sure it was replaced by the return spring that is attached to the relay...

Clutch problem

Hello and Happy New Year to everybody from Paul in Yuma, Arizona. Attached is a photo showing just a little less than 1/8" travel between the carbon ring and the thrust plate on the pressure plate of my 1952 Series MM, is this correct. It just seems a very small distance to me. Regards, Paul. m...

Re: prop shaft/drive shaft

Doug, I did send a PM but I'm not sure you received it, so could you please indicate the overall condition of the drive shaft, specifically if the yokes and flanges have been damaged where the u-joints are installed, for example has someone hammered on them and so distorted them. Thank you, Paul Fol...

Re: prop shaft/drive shaft

Mike,
it is the Series MM one that I am interested in, the one that has been cleaned up but it looks a little worse for wear, any idea of price?

Thanks,

Re: Differential repair parts

To: sirrom918 From: manlyvaleaussie Just to let you know that we were able to salvage enough bearings from the two units to complete the job, I did try to find new ones but to no avail, thanks again for your info. Any chance to have or no of someone else who has a prop shaft fro the Series MM, diffe...

Re: Differential repair parts

Thank you for this truly invaluable information, I was able to pick up another complete rear axle assembly which has a pitted CWP due to water being inside but maybe between the two we can come up with usable bearings for both the carrier and pinion, fortunately I have a serviceable CWP in my origin...

Differential repair parts

Has anyone overhauled/rebuilt the differential in the split axle type rear axle assembly as in the Series MM. (photo attached) I currently have mine dismantled and I need the diff. carrier bearings and the inner and outer pinion bearings. The original carrier bearings are (Ransom & Marles) R&...

Re: Hats off to the 803!!

Did you change out the complete axle assembly or did you find a 4.55:1 cwp somewhere and change out the 5.375:1 and if so where did you find them, also did you need to replace any bearings and again if so where did you find those, really interested as I'm getting ready to overhaul my Series MM 4.55:...

Differential repair help

This is on the upcoming overhaul of the differential in the split case rear axle of my '52 Series MM Morris Minor. Just wondering if anyone out there has worked on the split case rear axle or knows of someone who has, any and all advice on the process from such a person would truly be appreciated. S...

Differential repair parts

Now looking for the proverbial "needle in a haystack" but I'll never know if I don't ask. Planning on dismantling the noisy differential from my '52 Series MM this fall/winter and in reading through the process in the original workshop manual there is mention of two special tools that are ...

Re: Early MM windscreen rubber... again

Hello Chris, this is Paul Follett, ex-patriot Aussie now living in Yuma, Arizona, U.S.A. I have just completed a 3 year restoration of my '52 Series MM. I have a few contacts who are working on the earlier model with the different windscreen rubber/seal that you are asking about and so I have reache...

Thank you Rob, guess that takes care of that idea, hopefully my crown wheel and pinion will be okay and just the bearings will be needed.

Noisy differential

I'm back on the subject of the noisy differential in my 1952 Series MM. I plan to tackle it this coming fall/winter season, too hot in Yuma, Arizona at this time of year. I don't know if it will require a new crown wheel and pinion but I have been trying to locate a set just in chance. On the Moss M...

Breather pipe

Hello, any chance that someone has a spare breather pipe that comes off the tappet cover on the 918cc side valve Morris Minor engine, number 60 in the attached photo of the engine schematic, might as well push my luck and maybe you also have the 2 brackets, part numbers 61 and 64. Best regards, Paul...

918 cc head gasket

Hello to all, I might have to pull the head on my 918 cc engine and my memory flashed back to a discussion on head gaskets where a member said to only use brand "x" as it has raised areas around the head studs or something like that, don't quote me exactly it's been awhile. Does this ring ...

Glove box cock a doodle diddley

Does anyone have a Smiths glove box clock that is just for parts, specifically I'm looking for the solenoid as per the attached picture, I don't care what condition the rest of the clock is in or just the solenoid will be fine.

Thanks,

Paul Follett
