Re: calling the police

A few years ago ,when they were still keen; my local constabulary actually confiscated an illegal E scooter. They put a photo of it on their website with a board leaning up against it saying 'UNINSURED'. This gave people the idea that if they bought an illegal E scooter, and insured it....it would b...

Re: calling the police

An incident from a few weeks ago. I was walking along a narrow footpath to a shop when I heard a voice behind me... 'Can I get past'. I looked over my shoulder to see a 20 year old on a mountain bike. 'It's a footpath'. I said. 'What?' He said. 'It's a footpath. Bikes go on the road'. I said, helpfu...

Re: calling the police

I believe a special category of transport is being created, which will include E scooters and E bikes. The bikes and scooters will have to be insured; the riders will have to keep off footpaths, and there will be a 15mph speed limit. So expect an un-insured E scooter coming at you on the footpath at...

Re: calling the police

Let’s also not forget the fires caused by the batteries exploding. Numerous house fires and a few weeks ago an E-scooter caught fire on the platform at Epsom station. Had that been on a packed train it would have been disastrous. Stephen A lot of the problem with the privately purchased ones is the...

Re: calling the police

E-scooters are a huge problem where I live on the edges of South London. They are ridden on pavements and on roads. The riders don't wear helmets, they approach at speed almost silently and they don't have lights at night. There is also a big problem with ordinary bicycles being ridden at night wit...

Re: calling the police

Holy thread revival Batman! Shocking pictures on GMB this morning of an elderly woman being knocked down on the pavement by a woman on an E scooter. Unfortunately when the programme discussed the issue, they did not state that privately owned E scooters can only legally be used on private land with ...

Re: changing language

Things often go full circle. There has been a trend for many years to say 'for free'. There is no such thing as 'for free' . Something can be 'free' or 'free of charge', but not 'for free'. However, I saw an advert recently where something was offered as 'free'. The makers of the advert probably tho...

Re: Parking Sensors

Thanks folks.

We were hoping to not have to remove the rear bumper.

I think if it starts to fail every time; we will have to remove the bumper. :-(

Parking Sensors

...on my friend's Fabia are playing up. Sometimes it is OK, but sometimes he gets a continuous tone upon selecting reverse, and the graphic shows the car is too close to something when it is close to nothing. A google search says it is almost certainly a faulty sensor. Youtube shows people 'curing' ...

Re: solar panel

Thanks Phil.
My mate has got a camper van with 3 Leisure batteries connected together. Would one of these solar panels charge them all?

I know nothing about this sort of thing. :-?

solar panel

Is there a solar panel that can be propped in the window of a minor that will charge the battery on a car that is not in regular use?

Thanks.

Re: we have a problem

I am delighted that the technical posts are very busy Keith. For those of us that don't do facebook etc. this forum is vital.

It is just a shame that some off topic posts are met with sarcasm, ridicule and general rudeness, isn't it?

Who says I am back Les?

Re: we have a problem

I looked in today expecting there to have been a bit of a pile on in the last week. Strangely, there has not. I started this post expecting there to be a bit of interesting discussion. Instead, it conked out, and there have been no new 'off topic' posts. Parts of this forum seem to be dying out; whi...

That's a good one.

Nobody wants to talk about the loony subject, so let's leave it there.

I won't post on here again.
