Re: Extra fuse box

Excellent simmitc thanks, what size fuse is recommended for the inline fuse on the white wire coming from the original box? Would it be the same rating as the original fuses?

Re: Extra fuse box

Thanks for the replies chaps, it’s a1970 4 door saloon. The rear screen was fitted a couple of years back as I needed a new one and it seemed a good idea to fit a heated one in readiness for when i needed to do the alternator conversion. The alternator was a kit from ESM, so the original control box...

Re: Extra fuse box

Thanks simmitc , as you say it may be better to only have it live when the ignition is on. Where would I take the power from, the the original fuse box ?

Re: Extra fuse box

Thanks, so if I were to wire direct to battery + terminal as well as the inline fuse I’d need to run through a relay and also the switch ? Is that correct ?

Extra fuse box

Hi all, having now replaced my dynamo with an alternator I’m ready to wire in my previously fitted rear heated screen. I’ve decided to add another fuse box, am I correct in thinking I can take a feed from the original fuse box to the new fuse box as long as I fit a relay between two ? If that’s corr...

Re: Ignition light trouble

Just thought I’d report back as I’ve finally been able to sort the problem out, it was indeed a faulty dynamo which I’ve now replaced with an alternator and all is well. Now I’ve finally fitted the alternator I can get around to wiring in the heated rear screen I fitted some time ago in preparation ...

Re: Ignition light trouble

I’ve taken fan belt off and removed control box cover, on pushing the point’s together the motor runs at times and not at others? On the times it doesn’t run the points appear to stick together? Any ideas on next move would be appreciated

Thanks, it’s still using a dynamo. Battery seems fine but I’ll check fan belt tomorrow. Is there anyway to check for a wiring problem?

Ignition light trouble

Hi all, I’m having an issue with the red ignition light on my 1970 saloon and was hoping somebody could shed some light on it ! For no apparent reason I can see, the light isn’t going out when the revs pick up ? I’ve checked behind clock and there’s no loose wires or anything unusual. Any ideas?

Re: 155 70 14 tyres?

Thanks for the reply, I had a new set of 155 14 nankang tyres fitted that I’d purchased from one of the usual Morris minor parts suppliers about 2 years ago which have all split between the tread! I was hoping to get some part used to replace them but there seems to be more options with the 155 70 s...

Re: 17 amp cable for heated rear screen?

Test done , I’ve got 1.6 ohms across the screen so I’ve done the test and get 9.125 amps. Does this mean 17amp cable is fine with a 15amp fuse?
