Re: Overheating - what next?

Thanks. I'll leave it as is. Just seen the price of antifreeze!

By the way, my mistake, the thermostat in there now is 82C not 88C. I must have changed it when it first started overheating as one of the things to try, and forgotten about it.

Re: Overheating - what next?

Sorry about the delay, been a bit busy this last week. In answer to some of the posts above, I did actually get it boiling over when the gauge went into the red zone, and the gauge is on a voltage stabiliser, so it wasn't the gauge (although it does under-read slightly compared to readings taken wit...

Overheating - what next?

Hi, I've not posted here for ages, mainly because I've driven so few miles in my Traveller (350 miles between MOTs  ) that nothing's gone wrong, and there's been nothing to report, until now. The car has developed an overheating problem that I can't get to the bottom of, and I'm looking for id...

Re: Spotted today.

Does anyone ever own up to owning any of these "spotted" cars?

Change e-mail address How?

Pretty obvious from the title of the post. I need to change the contact e-mail address I have registered on this forum as the curent one will cease to be valid from 20th October.

Anyone know how I go about it?

There doesn't seem to be a user setting in my profile, which seems a bit daft.

Re: Spotted today.

Well, spotted last week actually. A blue B reg. minor saloon. Seems to live at Healaugh and drive to The King's Head in Gunnerside in Swaledale regularly. Has an MMOC licence holder, but don't know if they're still a member. Never got the chance to enquire in the pub unfortunately. There was also a b...

Re: MOT passed. Magic self curing track-rod end.

I couldn't feel any movement up/down side to side when pulling and pushing the track rod, but it does rotate very easily on the "ball" compared to the other one. Would that be the play the tester noted last year? I suppose since I have the part, I might as well fit it if I can get the old ...

MOT passed. Magic self curing track-rod end.

My Traveller has just pased its MOT first time with no advisories. :D Nothing special about that, you may say, but this is the first time I've "gone it alone" instead of "taking it to the man" to get its MOT. The odd thing is that last year it had an advsory for play in the off-s...

Well, I guess if I can't shift it on my own, I can just do the rear flange up again and I'm no worse off.

Should I fit new nuts and bolts at the back while I'm at it?

Maverick, did you get it out?

I'm about to try the same thing, single handed. If it took two of you, maybe I need to enlist some help.

First big trip

Have just returned from a week's holiday in Norfolk with the Traveller, about 500 miles all told, and I have to report that it performed perfectly. This probably comes as no surprise to many of you, but I was sort of pleasantly surprised. I'd made sure to pack al the essential break-down kit as advi...

Thanks everyone, I see how its done now.

I don't have any screwed on trim at the bottom of the panels, so I guess its just the waist rails and the pressure from the seat squab holding the panels on.

Better get ordering some dum-dum :D .

How are trim panels in back of Traveller held in?

Hi, can you tell me how I go about getting the trim panels out of the back of my Traveller without damaging them, so I can replace them after inspecting "what lies beneath"? I'm hesitant to start ripping it apart, in case I do just that. I mean the vertical panels either side of the back s...

I just thought it was a pleasant change to have legible type (I don't think you can beat black on white when your eyes are not what they were).

Thinking about it, I'd like to see a section on modified Minors too, just to see some of the outrageous things people do to them. :-?

What are the chances?

Just an update on this. (Sorry "tomorrow" seems to have been a long time coming) :) . After a couple of days, the telltale stopped working in both directions, so I thought I'd better investigate. The short answer is that the problem was a dodgy bullet connector behind the dash in the light...

Thanks, I'll have a poke about tomorrow. Just as an afterthought, it probably has non-standard wiring because there's a four-way "hazard" light flasher as well. That has its own telltale in the hazard light switch. Not sure if that replaces the standard set up, or piggybacks onto it. I gue...

Indicator telltale doesn't work one way.

Can anyone tell me where to look to solve this one? The indicator telltale on the end of the indicator stalk has stopped working on right turns. The indicators themselves flash, and I can hear the flasher unit ticking, but the bulb on the end of the stalk doesn't light up. On left turns, it's fine. ...

Thanks, Liz. I've since found I can get it cheaper with the AA as a "new member, joining online", even taking the 15% club RAC discount into account, and, as the RAC were so snotty when I phoned, I'll take my business elsewhere. You might want to check that the scheme reference is posted s...
