Re: First drive impressions

If it still has the mechanical clutch check the engine torque reaction bar from the top of the engine to the battery tray and the clutch system bushes these don't last forever and could give the symptoms you describe. It has a hydraulic clutch It will be interesting to work out what parts it has. C...

Is this a diff wear on the overrun not engine noise?

Re: First drive impressions

As far as I know, it’s an unmodified Marina engine, with 1.5” exhaust and a SU HS4 with K&N filter. Itdid have a 1380cc engine with a warm cam a few years ago. Another 60 miles on it today has shown up some grumbling on the overrun (may even be exhaust as it doesn’t sound like diff) and some pos...

First drive impressions

It’s a grey wet day in Worcestershire and I picked up my Traveller. It’s the first time I have driven it, or any Traveller. I’m really impressed! I think it’s a standard 1275 with K&N filter, 5 speed Sierra gearbox with a 3.7 diff and 13” minilite replicas. It struggles a bit at low speed in 2nd...

Re: My Traveller has an MoT :)

I’m not very handy hence the desire for some modern bits. When they go, they really go, but generally they work well. They certainly divide opinion.
I work in Jersey but divide my weekends between Bromsgrove and Pontypridd so just don’t have any time.
I will try and post some photos soon.

My Traveller has an MoT :)

My recently purchased Traveller passed its MoT yesterday. First time in 6 years I think. I will have my first drive at the weekend. Really looking forward to it. I guess it promises to be unreliable at first as it has not had much work or use (good service, new electronic fuel pump, electronic distr...

399NRO 1963 Traveller

I recently bought 399NRO, a 1275cc Traveller in Smoke Grey
Does anyone have any recollections of the car? Two previous owners have been club owners.

Re: Parcel shelf

What is the difference between standard and de luxe trim? I had assumed all 62-64 Minors were duotone. As stated above. Duo-tone seats and door cards if 'Deluxe' trim. Single-tone if 'Standard' trim. I was thinking more generally when I posted that. Are there any other differences other than seats ...

Re: Parcel shelf

With regard to the parcel shelf in Minors, what supports it? On my car the edge nearer the driver is held firmly by the metal dashboard but the forward end appears to be held by sky-hooks, ie nothing. Being made of hardboard , it tends to droop down at the bulkhead end and items put on it fall thro...

Re: Parcel shelf

The car is off being recommissioned for me so I will need to check when I get it back. I have some more creature comfort modifications planned but I would like it to look fairly standard. What is the difference between standard and de luxe trim? I had assumed all 62-64 Minors were duotone. I think m...

Parcel shelf

I have just bought a 1962 Traveller which isn’t very original.

It’s Smoke Grey. Should it have a blue duotone interior?

Should it have a front parcel shelf? If so, are the new replacements suitable? Would it have been black or cream originally?

Thanks

Re: Hello

I sold my house in Bromsgrove a few weeks ago and about to move to Pontypridd in South Wales. My other half lives in Catshill so am still a regular visitor.
I am hoping my Moggie isn’t too far from the road so would be up for a mini-meet at some point :)

Hello

Hello all I just bought a 1962 built Traveller, 399 NRO. It’s Smoke Grey. I think two of the previous owners have been club members. It has been off the road about 5 years and is currently being recommissioned by a garage in south Birmingham. It has a 1300 Marina engine, disks/servo, minilite replic...
