Re: A plea to restore valuable restoration threads

I agree. There’s a huge amount of useful information here, but equally there are lots of broken links which is frustrating when you think you’re about to be linked to a thread that will answer your question.

Re: Heavy duty clutch

Actually, I wonder if Declan’s linkage would provide an even better solution?

Heavy duty clutch

I’ve had a search but I can’t find a definitive answer to this. What clutch assembly is suitable for the 1098 block, 1098 flywheel (albeit a bit lighter) and ribbed gearbox with say 90bhp? All the answers that I’ve found involve 1275 blocks with the associated flywheel, which involves modifying the ...

Doh, that’s brake/side and side on its own. Edited accordingly.

Re: LED bulbs anyone?

Thanks Geo, I’ll take a look.

Tried to get some pics of the side/brake led lights. Even taking into account the limitations of a phone camera, this is the difference. Brake and side, then side on its own.

Edited to correct typo.

Re: LED bulbs anyone?

The P36D seems to be the equivalent in LED. classiccarleds.co.uk seem to have the type on hold as they say they cannot get good enough quality items produced. That’s right, I spoke to them about it a couple of weeks ago, they don’t have an eta at the moment. It’s a shame as I’d like some for my Luc...

Re: LED bulbs anyone?

I'll see if I can get you some worthwhile images of the bulbs that I've fitted. There's certainly a very noticeable difference between side light and brake light brightness. Also have a read of this, it explains why you shouldn't use white led bulbs behind coloured lenses. https://www.classiccarleds...

Doesn’t it have less ethanol than standard petrol?
Standard and V Power both have the E5 logo on the pump so I guess they’re the same?

Re: LED bulbs anyone?

Regarding the blue tinted sidelight bulbs, bulbs that look the same as original are available from the website that I linked to.

Depends where you are coming from,
From the land of the Minor where heads are £30 on ebay and the cooling system is more than adequate. I get your point about alloy heads on exotic stuff though.

Re: LED bulbs anyone?

I’ve replaced everything except the ign warning light. A definite improvement all round. All purchased from here, https://www.classiccarleds.co.uk/ some may be a little more than ebay but the quality is top notch.

As per 'Phil-1954', I don't think there will be any problems just taking off and replacing the one nut, as long as the engine is cold when you do it.
This ^^^^. If it worries you at all, drop the water level, but I honestly wouldn't bother for that one nut on the corner of the head.

Re: HIF44 carburetor

A BDL is a good starting point for a lightly modified 1275, obviously a few hours on a rolling road is what you really need but a BDL should get you running, unless there are other mods?
