Re: Valve springs

I've finally run out of sets of double-springs and have just one set of singles left. Ford Laser in Aus might fit. Morris 8 vendors might have some since the Army had plenty of stock.

Re: Morris Minor alignment Jig

The bottom tube is just the spacer between eyebolt holes. In the original design I though that the top tube was spaced away from the damper mounts on a rotating bracket. Is there any reason not to delete that top tube and weld the 2 large triangles straight onto the damper plate? Would make it easie...

Re: Morris Minor alignment Jig

I've got the 'book' but couldn't quite suss out the design. Is the tube at the top made so it can pivot up out of the way?

Re: Radiator Blind

I bought and fitted a Factory Option roller blind for the rad. Ideal on a sidevalve with that massive header tank. Obviously, the numberplate didn't stay there!

Re: fuel pump

I did wonder if the inlet valve was stuck a bit open but if I leave the ign on with no engine running then it only ticks once every 10-15 seconds, suggesting that it is not leaking back into the fuel line. I'm trying to twist my brain round the idea of a leaking outlet valve...1.5 psi in the long ho...

Re: fuel pump

Strange one this week. Having brought one of the Sidevalves back into use I suffered a fuel pump intermittenet failure. Single points on it so I wasn't overly surprised. I changed it for a rebuilt one in the boot and it worked, but, the noise was like a lump hammer being used and the ticking was may...

Re: MM & early SERIES 2 GLOVEBOX LID CLOCK

alte1.jpg I'll try to find some better pics. Mine was 'made' in the same way as yours but based on an original owned by Carlo P. I posted the designs on here a while ago but found that someone had copied the designs and was freely selling them on the inetrnet. NOT COOL! The drawing work was done by...

Re: New Purchase!!

I cut a rounded 90 degree corner out of a sheet of MDF as an anvil to bash the steel over. I can't find the pic of the Minor floor I did but I used the same technique to make a dashboard for a vintage Austin.

Any photos? Might help with identifying why it has different number.

I've a faint memory of a 12G192 being a 998 head.

Re: Weight of MM Steering Wheels

If the nut hasn't tightened the wheel down onto the taper then that slot wears against the little 'key', hence someone broaching a new slot into the wheel. had to do the same to one of ours. It previously had a noticeable clunk upon turning the wheel. I wonder if the early ones were softer?

Re: Split screen windscreen fitting

Did it solo a couple of years ago. Original spec glass and seal. I didn't use a dummy, just levered the glass apart with a pine wood wedge after the rubber was all in.
