Hi all, I have an all original Phase 1 moggy which was first registered on 1st January 1963. I am not on Facebook but would quite like Moggy May to be included in the register.
Thanks

Re: Head gasket failure
Well I really don’t know. Should the stud hole be sealed at the bottom because this looks to be open to the coolant water contained within the block. My thoughts are that this is how the coolant probably got into the cylinders by escaping up the stud hole and under the head gasket. I’ve never notice...

Head gasket failure
Hi all, Found a lot of creamy gunge inside the tappet cover so I removed the head and discovered water in cylinder 2&3. However, the gasket did not seem damaged or broken. When I came to torque the head back down after replacing the gasket, the middle short stud just spun. After further inspecti...

Re: Insurance (17 Year Old)
Well done Sam and I hope you get a lot of enjoyment from both driving and maintaining your car. I have to say that I think that insurance companies could do a lot for the classic car fraternity. There seems to be a lack of new young members joining classic car clubs and buying cars to learn the art ...

Re: Starting Handle Points vs Electronic Ignition
I’m with you Les. Never had a problem with the old points system at all with the Moggy.
I also have got a MGB and the only time either of them let me down was when the MG was fitted with an electronic ignition system which failed after 2 years!.
Needless to say basic is better for me.

Re: Blooming rubber!
Hi Boomlander,
I use a liquid called Gummy Pflege. It comes with a sponge applicator so can be applied direct from the bottle.
I got it from Amazon. Works really well.

Re: Petrol gauge
Hi Time Traveler, my Moggie also does that, however after a few miles I just tap the the underside of the dashboard with my hand and the needle returns to where it should be. I try not to fill the tank to the brim to avoid the problem.

Shock oil
Hi everyone, hope you’re staying safe.
I need to top up the shock absorbers on my 63 two door moggy. Can anyone tell me what they use and what SAE/W is best.
Thanks .

Hi djk , that’s just what I do! .
I’ve never had a problem but I would check the battery is fully charged.
