Re: Hardi fuel pump

Thanks you everyone. Declan, I’ve decided to bite the bullet and order a Hardi, after looking back through some old threads it seems it is good for some and not others, but then so is the SU so for half the price I can fit a brand new pump and still afford to send the old for reconditioning leaving ...

Hardi fuel pump

Hi

Is anyone familiar with the Hardi fuel pump?

Half the price of SU but is it any good?

Re: Fuel pump

Hi Steve

We were very lucky, had been through Wallasey tunnel and over toward Southport and he waited until we were 1 mile from home before stuttering to a halt!

Managed to limp him home to the safety of the garage where we can work in relative comfort.

Whereabouts were you when it packed up?

Fuel pump

Hi all

I’ve had a fuel pump failure and have been on line to find a replacement but there are a couple of different options, anyone any idea of the correct part number for a 1965 saloon?

Many thanks

Re: Clicking/knocking noise

We replaced the fuel filter yesterday and the innards were rusty and completely overdue for replacement. Now getting a regular tick from the fuel pump rather than intermittent but the fuel only seems to dribble into the filter. Should the pump give a good amount of fuel after each click? And if the ...

Re: Clicking/knocking noise

Thanks Bob I’m not a fan of the aftermarket fuel filter either, we generally had late 60’s/early 70’s ford motors on our boats and plastic fuel filters would fail a safety certificate straight away. They were handy as a ‘window’ into the quality of the fuel in the tank though, and these tanks suffer...

Re: Clicking/knocking noise

Wow, that’s brilliant! Thank you everyone. I haven’t had time to look further into this as I’m working everyday at the moment, but I can answer some of the questions. Fuelled up less than 80 miles ago and gauge is working showing more than 3/4’s full. Yes it’s negative earth and a lot of money was s...

Re: Clicking/knocking noise

Should the petrol pump really be that loud? You might be onto something though, quick trip out and had to return to the safety of the garage as we couldn’t do more than 10-15 mph, coughing and spluttering as if short on fuel. Looks like fuel pump on way out, is there an upgrade to the fuel pump or s...

Clicking/knocking noise

Morning all Bit of a strange one this, I’ve got a clicking noise that starts as soon as you turn the key, (intermittently), and doesn’t stop when the engine is running. From inside the car it sounds like it’s coming from the engine bay behind the bulkhead, with the bonnet up it sounds like it’s comi...

Re: Leaning lower on near side

Thanks all

Definitely low near side front, when/if the weather improves I’ll take him out if the garage and do some scientific measuring to see what’s what!

Leaning lower on near side

hi all

Putting Maurice away yesterday I noticed he’s leaning lower on the near side, on,y about an inch but looked a little odd to me.

It was dark and cold so didn’t want to investigate too much but what’s the best place to start and is there a ride height adjustment?

Just fitted my Fleabay purchase from Ping-Pong , incandescent 4.6 and 3.4 Amps main and dip respectively , the Leds 0.98 amps either mode , wrong beam pattern was fixed by rotating the led unit in it's holder, am pleased ( especially as they only cost me £9 for the pair delivered to my door....so p...

Re: Powdery rear view mirror

Cheers everyone

As the back was particularly powdery and leaving dust everywhere I decided to give a light clean with warm water and a toothbrush.

Smartened it up quite a bit but may go down the wood hardener rout to make it stay nice and grey!

Powdery rear view mirror

Hi again I’ve just received a replacement rear view mirror I ordered the other day as ours was missing, but as it is an original mirror the plastic has gone powdery. Assuming it is plastic and not Bakelite. Does anyone know of a way I can restore it? Doesn’t need to be pristine as we’re not going fo...

Re: LED bulbs anyone?

Is there an LED alternative to the 414 bulb?

TBH the output doesn’t seem too bad on Maurice, but is a bit yellow which is to be expected.
