Re: Handbrake not working - slave cylinders won't slide
Thanks again Phil, I'm now pretty certain that I need to replace the slave cylinders. I couldn't understand how the lever was pivoted to move the cylinder body but now I understand that there is a pivot pin in the cylinder body which enables the lever to push the piston out of the cylinder, that mak...

Re: Handbrake not working - slave cylinders won't slide
Thanks mowogg, I don't think it is the cable. I think that the cylinders are seized.

Re: Handbrake not working - slave cylinders won't slide
Thanks guys for your helpful comments. Yes the brakes are adjusted, hopefully not too tight. My understanding is that the movement that causes the handbrake to push/pull the shoes to make contact with the drum is a slide of the body of the cylinder (so the lever doesn't push/pull the piston out?) If...

Handbrake not working - slave cylinders won't slide
My 64 Morris hasn't seen the road for a couple of years mainly because I can't get the handbrake to work. :-( I've put in new cables which appear to pull up smoothly with plenty of travel on the cable. The slave cylinders "were" quite new and appear to work. I can't understand how the move...

Re: Handbrake not working
Thanks guys for your helpful comments. I have replaced the handbrake cable with no improvement. I will try to spray some WD40 into the back of the cylinder. I think things may have ceased or dried up as I haven't driven the car for a while.

Handbrake not working
I can't fathom out how the handbrake pulls on the rear brake cylinder to slide it. There doesn't seem to be a pivot. Should I be able to see it move when the brake drum is off? I'm wondering if I need to replace the handbrake cable, my car has a new cable on the nearside but the offside is old (alth...

Replacing rear suspension on my convertible.
I am considering replacing the leaf springs and fittings on the rear of my 1964 convertible. I see that ESM do a kit. Can anyone advise if this is a simple job needing no special tools or should I leave it to a professional. I would probably want to replace the dampers at the same time.
