Old dampers ... old oil ... probably not been changed ... ever :-? My first Minor .. many years ago had what would now be called ABS .... Gawd knows how the kid I was, managed to stop at various junctions getting my new car home  It was an old banger back then and suffered no more than .. no maintenance or very little at best. I overhauled the system, mostly ...

Anti seize grease on those studs will aid disassembly at the next 13 year interval, I believe some people have drilled the thermostat housing holes oversize a little too. Well done.

Suppliers sell brake shoes and also Mintex brake shoes, I don't know what you got but I found an improvement with Mintex shoes, also, if your drums have been skimmed it may take longer for your shoes to bed in .. I cant quite make out a wear pattern in your picture but if your shoes are more likely ...

Does the brake peddle have enough free play (before you depress it)? Free play is needed to allow the brake fluid to return to the cylinder.

Re: Brakelight Switch Replacement
Could I just say ..........Most reproduction brake light switches appear to be made in far away places and can quickly fail, while you're in the area I can recommend the fitting of a relay, this will greatly increase switch life and as a small bonus, with the engine not running I can hear the click ...

Re: Hot starter motor
Steve, Its possible your bendix is sticking on its shaft and would benefit from a good clean, whip the starter out and have a look. the assembly should be clean and dry, free and easy, Its tempting to add a little oil or grease but this allows "clutch dust" and/or other contaminants to att...

Hydraulic clutch 1275.
Hi people, about my 'spare' engine, I want to have it ready to throw in as and when needed. It's a sprite 1275 engine and gearbox out of a RHD car but going in to a LHD car. I am considering going with a hydraulic clutch and I see ESM sell a kit but state for 1098 gearbox only. I emailed ESM and ask...

Re: Interior Light Wiring
Does it connect directly to the back of the door switch. The switch can be unscrewed from the door jamb and pulled out. I think that wire is hot ... best to disconnect the battery ... your light may come on if you ground that wire. Sorry, not sure where the other end connects too right now ...

Burlen sell a repair kit for 44 Quid, you could rebuild it yourself in less than an hour or take your time and spend an afternoon cleaning/getting to know/rebuilding your pump ..... much more satisfying and your pump is good for another 50 years. http://sucarb.co.uk/su-fuel-pumps-spares/single-lp-pu...
