Re: Indicator stalk
Yes sorry about that. I wont be able to go to her yet, but what I do know, are that you are right there are five wires. The three in the middle are still connected and they are for the indicators. The two that are not connected, one is a black and white one which comes down the indicator stalk. The ...

Indicator stalk
Hello, is there anyone out there can help. For what ever reason the wiring on the indicator stalk of a 1968 traveller keeps blowing the fuse. Does anyone have any pictures of what should connect to where on the stalk itself. I have two wires loose and not sure where they go. I’m not an electrician a...

Panels back to the timber
Hello all, I have sanded all the timber down and have finished varnishing it. Now its time to put the panels back to the timber. I’m worried about the gap between the timber and the panels letting water in. Is this where I should use caulking. If so do I put the caulking up to the edge of the timber...

Re: Fuel pump
Hi, I stripped the fuel pump down and cleaned it, put it back and checked the output, all well there. Was still knocking which is as one or two have said normal so had to accept this. I then thought of putting small anti vibration mounts between the pump and it’s fixing. Bingo quiet in the car and e...

Re: Fuel pump
Hi, I quite agree that the pumps needs to work however the tick is very loud and can be heard inside above all the other noises. I have just come in as I have checked the incoming fuel line at the joint all seams ok. I checked the rubber fuel line to the carb and all ok. I have checked the voltage a...

Fuel pump
Hi, my 1968 traveller was making a ticking noise which started to get worse. I located it down to the fuel pump. I fitted a new pump which was straight forward. Turned the ignition on and you could hear the pump pumping until it had the petrol through then went quiet. Started her up and low and beho...

Where to oil
Good morning all. As you know by now I’m a novice however I am learning a lot and enjoying myself. I have just changed the gasket and replaced the cover on the underside of the gear leaver, the round cover with 4 screws to it. With the prop shaft in the way. Awkward but managed it ok. However (this ...

Engine restorer
Hi, have just done oil change on my traveller and was wondering if the Ametech engine restorer additive would help in anyway. It says it increases compression etc. Just thought it might help or offer more protection for the engine. Thanks everyone.

Petrol sender unit
Hi back again. I have noticed that when I fill up I get some petrol leaking from the sender unit. I am going to take it out and replace the gasket. What I would like some advise on is should I put some thread sealant on the bolts and if so which one to use. I have heard some don’t stand up to fuel w...

Disc brakes
Hello all, back again and still learning, however I am enjoying every minute with my 1968 traveller. I have just fitted new brake shoes and drums and now can a least stop. However I am just wondering if I should save up and put disc brakes on. I’m a big believer in brakes and tyres as these are the ...

Re: Rubber bung in bell housing
Success, after a lot of worry, I turned the engine over using the starting handle, and the bung did drop down. However I couldn’t feel or find it. A friend of mine saved the day as he turned up with a camera attached to a long thin viewer. Popped it in the hole an there it was, just a bent piece of ...

Rubber bung in bell housing
Nightmare, my traveller was without the rubber bungs in the clutch bell housing. So fitted two and came to the third which is right on top. To my horror the bung disappeared inside out of sight. I am a novice to working on cars and learning as I go along. Obviously I need to get the bung back out, B...

Great thank you for being so descriptive as when you’re learning like me the more detail and why that makes it work or fail the better to learn from. I am busy for the next few days but will do what you say and report back, cheers Paul.
