I am quite happy with the panels I purchased from ESM as well, but they don't have the arch one, or the support brackets for the front inner wing to the cross member (where the dampers bolt)... As far as the boxing is concerned, I think I am going to go with cutting it and placing the new one in as ...

Thanks for those pics Ray, mine has gone in the same way. The boxing section feels pretty solid behind the 'B' pillar. Having said that, in the two areas where it has really gone - at the front behind the inner wing, and at the back under the rotten arch, it has risen over half way up the boxing pan...

Ok, so is it acceptable to leave the 'B' pillar and weld the new boxing panel (cut into two pieces appropriately) up to it rather than behind it? The sill is solid, but the boxing is not which is why I need to replace it - though I am obviously a little reluctant to cut the 'B' unless I really have ...

I have stripped all of the areas surrounding the boxing on my 4 door car. The boxing needs replacing on the drivers side because it is corroded on both the front and rear sections. I have taken the front inner wing off because it is being replaced. The lower rear arch is out because of corrosion, an...

Boxing Panel and Rear Arch
At the bottom of my rear arches (the bit you see when you open the back door - clarified in case it is not actually called a rear arch  ), there is some corrosion at the bottom. It has been repaired on both sides in the past, but is starting to go again. Whats more is that the boxing panel has...

Front Inner Arches
I have noticed corrosion on my front inner arches in various places. They have been patched in the past (along with the rear part of the inner wing) so I have decided to replace them rather than patching them again. Does anybody have any tips on the best way to go about removing the inner arches (wh...

So with these engines, does it not make much difference what CC the head came from? I have located a few of 12G295, but depending on the source, it has been used on a 998, 1098 or 1275... Will this operate OK with the standard cam, or is changing that at the same time going to make more of a differe...

Well, the cost of a recon head ready for unleaded is not that much, so it may be worth doing sooner rather than later. Can you expand on 'better head'? Does that just mean one that has been reconditioned, or one that has bigger valves, polished ports etc? Rather than buying a reconditioned head, I s...

Heater Control Valve
I have noticed that regardless of where I position the Heater Control that the heater is always blowing hot. I have checked and the cable is operating the valve ok. Does the valve need replacing, or is it servicable?
Thanks, Aaron

Ok, I will get the compression tester out! So if you are going to fit the hardened valves, do you have to regrind the seats? What other mods should I do to the engine along with a cam? I want to remove the engine because the engine bay is grubby and needs a respray - I am not sure if I could do a go...

Thanks. I saw that the springs were not too expensive. Is replacing the rear springs a wasted excercise or can you still do some tuning to the suspension without going all the way to a coil-over kit? Are there any articles on tuning or adjusting the front suspension? I have a manual now, but it seem...

Underside repair panels
Hello All, I was wondering if I posted some pics of a couple of areas of corrosion on the lower inner wings and a little but of the underside of my Minor whether or not you would be able to advise if there are any repair panels available, or whether I need to get the tin snips out and make my own? I...

Cylinder Head
Hello All, After covering quite a few miles in my Minor now, I have noticed that the tickover has become a little lumpy, so I am going to give it a service at the weekend, and check the valve clearance as well. I was wondering about this unleaded issue. The car had a recon engine about 8-9 years ago...

Suspension
Hello All, After a first weekend driving the Minor (about 300 miles without a serious issue!), I have some questions about the suspension. We noticed that the car is not very good over speed bumps (perhaps because they didn't exist when the car was designed), but also noticed that it is not very goo...

ok, it sounds like I am in the right area. I did give it a bit of a bounce when I had filled it, and it didn't seem to make much of a difference, so I thought I would drive it for a bit, then check again today. I did clean the damper in the areas where I thought I might spot leaks, so I guess that t...

Ok, I have filled the damper with oil. The noise that started this thread has gone - thanks! But, the damping on the side I have filled up is not as good as it is on the other side, i.e. the passenger side bounces one more time than the drivers side when I push down on it. So, does this mean that th...

I have checked both dampers, the drivers side (which comes right back and stays back when I press it down) had fluid coming out of the top. The passenger side (which is where the noise appears to be coming from), has no sign of oil. So, I will try to go and get some oil this evening. Should this be ...
