I think I've answered my own question.
Having taken it apart further I've found that felt was sewn into the panels originally. Most of it has disintergrated so I'm cutting out what's left.
I'll glue foam panels onto the vinyl to replace it.

Re: Seat upholstery question
I will do if I don't get an answer on here.
I didn't really want to bother them seeing as I won't be buying their covers.

Re: Seat upholstery question
Thanks. I've ordered the top two items in your links already (padding and base foam). The third item (frame wrap) answers my question about the sides/front. What I need to know now is... Should the underside of the seat vinyl have some thin foam glued to it (in addition to the main base foam)? See d...

Seat upholstery question
I'm refurbing the seats in my pick up. I'm wanting, if possible, to reuse the vinyl covers. I'm obviously going to replace the original dunlopillow foam. I'll also remove all the old hessian, horsehair (?), and felt. This will leave just the bare vinyl cover. Do I need to glue thin foam to the under...

Underfelt?
I'm about to order a carpet set for my pick up from Newton commercial.
I see that Newton commercial's underfelt is £67 whereas ESM do an underfelt set for only £29.
Does anyone know whether the Newton commercial felt is worth the extra?
There's no photo of ESM's so I can't guage any differences.
TIA

Thanks. Is it easy to do this? Do you just remove the half shafts?

half shaft/hub gasket question?
I've had my pick-up raised up quite high on the near-side side for a month or so whilst working underneath. I've just noticed that diff oil has leaked out of the off-side hub. Will I have to replace the half shaft/hub paper gasket now that it's wet with oil? or will it be oil tight again once the ca...

What is the main differences between a Marina 1275 and a Midget 1275? Is one more desirable than the other?

Thanks Phil.
Will the engine plates I need swap straight off my 1098 engine?
How is the flywheel modified? (can I use the flywheel off my 1098?).
Cheers Chris

Souped up A Series?
What's the best engine to source to increase the power of my pick-up? I want more power but not so much that I'd need to upgrade the suspension. I would, however, convert to front disk brakes and a servo. The bigger engine would also need to work with my reconditioned standard gearbox. I'm running a...

Braided brake hoses?
Does fitting braided stainless steel brake hoses make much difference to pedal firmness?

Re: Bleeding/priming rear brake cylinders (again)
Actually, that's just given me an idea! Maybe the high loop of the flexi is where the air pocket is?
When I clamped the flexi I clamped it at the front end of it which would give the resulting firm pedal.
I'll try bleeding it with loop pulled down lower and see if that helps.
FINGERS CROSSED!

Re: Bleeding/priming rear brake cylinders (again)
Thank you for the picture. The hose does look to be extra long but where and how it is fixed either end I do not think you could get away with a shorter pipe. When I said high I meant having the axle at least waist height. Yes Phil, I've had it that high previously. I would have though that any ris...

Re: Bleeding/priming rear brake cylinders (again)
Thanks Phil
I'll check the condition of the flex. Also it does actually look longer than it needs to be (see attached).
I've had the back end lifted for a few days and that didn't help.

Bleeding/priming rear brake cylinders (again)
Rear brake cylinder problem on my pick up. I've bled the system again using Eezibleed. Put a full bottle of fluid through to each wheel, NO bubbles coming out. Still had a spongy pedal. I clamped off the rear brakes at the flexy in front of axle ...resulted in a very SOLID pedal. Therefore ...the pr...

Re: Still struggling bleeding brakes
There is no best way for bleeding the brakes on Minor. They either bleed well or are an absolute pig. The Ezibleed system used with the modified cap is as good as any - especially if you are on your own. Having the Ezibleed line pressure and the additional brake fluid in the Ezibleed container help...

Re: Still struggling bleeding brakes
You need the non vented cap from ESM. https://www.morrisminorspares.com/brakes-c42/brake-system-c43/master-cylinder-filler-cap-non-vented-for-use-with-fbk901-remote-top-up-kit-p829339 The cap needs to be drilled and tapped and an adapter union fitted to suit the Ezibleed pipe. Use the search facili...

Ah right. What do you need to do to modify the cap?philthehill wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 5:27 pm Before you can utilise the Ezibleed system you will need an adapted Minor non vented master cylinder cap.
