Re: Some Damper Questions....

Hi. Because they're so easy to remove, I took the rear dampers off, gave them a really good clean with Gunk, then dried them off and drained the old oil out by clamping them gently in the vice and working the arms up and down. I then replenished them with oil (car jack oil from Halfords was recommen...

Re: Can anyone recommend a gasket sealant?

Thanks for all the responses everyone. I've not built an A series back up for 35 years so thought I'd ask for some advice... I'm not having much luck uploading a photo. Basically the wood and bodywork was restored 30 years ago, then put into storage. Unfortunately I didn't take it apart, and it went...

Can anyone recommend a gasket sealant?

Hi all. I'm nearing the completion of my 1959 Traveller, last on the road in 1981. The latest job is reassembling the engine, and I'm wondering what (if any) gasket seal to use for the water pump, thermostat housing and plate-to-engine seal. Is there one common sealant, or do I need a variety? With ...

Re: Is there anyone near Lichfield with a Minor?

Thanks to Alan and Sarah for letting me go and have a look at their two lovely Minors. Being able stand in front of (and crawl under) their Traveller has been really helpful in understanding where certain bits go. I first bought my Minor in 1988, then sold it to my brother a year or so later. He res...

The Minor assembly lines were changed to Morris 1100 manufacture about 1962.
Ahhhhh, so no room for the humble Minor, shame.....
And I thought that £17,995 for a Traveller restored ten years ago and advertised in Practical Classics was ambitious!

That would be brilliant, thank you. I am often in Solihull at the leisure centre. If you wanted to suggest some dates that are convenient to you after the Bank holiday (any afternoon or evening except a Wednesday) would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Is there anyone near Lichfield with a Minor?

Have you looked for some YouTube videos on the repair and assembly of such a model? It seems to me that YouTube has everything and this is more visual than describing some manuals in words. Thanks, I've looked on Youtube but I really want to be able to stand in front of a Minor with my camera. It's...

Re: Is there anyone near Lichfield with a Minor?

Thanks, but I already have that; I find that actually seeing things in situ is best for the way my mind is wired!!
Thank you for taking the time to reply, though.

Is there anyone near Lichfield with a Minor?

Hello, there. I've just bought back a 1959 Minor Traveller, which I first owned in 1988 - it's a long story! I didn't take it apart, and now I've got a fully-restored shell, with a 1098cc engine and ribbed box. However, all the pedal linkages are in bits, as is the engine and all the pulleys. I'm pr...
