Speedos for classic Mini etc
Minispares have different types of speedo available including gearbox driven types. I particularly like the magnolia version. I wonder if anyone in MMOC has fitted these to a Morris Minor assuming that’s possible? Pics shown below out of interest. Also the market for Morris Minor spares seems differ...

HS2 twin carb float chambers
It seems to me that the difference between H2 and HS2 carbs is the float arrangement. For HS2 float chambers are they interchangeable or are they handed? Cheers, John

Re: engine id plate rivets
My order from Minimail arrived today and I fitted the engine code plate this pm. Came with two twirly rivets. I was able to locate it centrally and away from the old ground down rivets using a 5/32” drill.
Bit of a faff as no space for a handrill and so used a flexi-shaft. Very pleased see pic

That’s another 20 minutes trying to login I’m thoroughly cheesed off with this website. When I try and sign in none of my passwords are recognised so I start again with asking for a new password. Once I get in and I try and post something I’m asked to login again. Why is it necessary to have an emai...

Re: Smiths Emission Control Valve (ECV)
I started this thread as I wanted to use a combination of an HS4, 1275 mini cast manifold and the flat round air cleaner plus an ECV. All of the latter (excepting the ECV) came from our old 1275 GT and would like to use them again. There isn’t enough room for the emission control valve so have used ...

Re: 52mm clock location
Thanks Declan, looks very nice. Which bracket is that one? I can’t see if there is anything behind the gauge to keep wiring etc in place? Regards, John

Re: Smiths Emission Control Valve (ECV)
I’m sure Declan is aware that his pic doesn’t show the plunger referred to in this discussion. FYI I attach a pic of an earlier Emission Control Valve (with some rusty internals) and missing the later ‘fingers’. Regards, John

I have since found this on the Mini Mail website. They can provide new engine number plates and this pdf explains how to remove the rivets:-

Modern heater valves
Whilst I was still working I bought a recon engine from BM and plus all new ancilliaries at the same time on the basis that I would have a new engine to enjoy for my retirement and not have to worry about repairs. Original heater valves were angled about 20 degrees from the vertical and no longer av...

Valve springs unequal length
I have a spare unleaded 1098 Head which was damaged in store; one of the valves was bent and cracked the guide. In course or refurbishing it I find some of the springs are shorter by approx 1/8”. Is this within tolerances or should I replace them?
