Re: Saloon interior light wiring
Found it ok after removing passenger glove box, real prob was a short somewhere so removed drivers glovebox and found the it as per the pic below. The interior light only worked manually and the brown/black wire had been disconnected. All working ok now - apart from nearside indicators so must have ...

Re: JHL master cylinder
Thanks for replies. I asked because ESM do a similar Ford based kit as per JLH but with no mention of an updated master cylinder?

Re: 1098 gearbox reassembly
Think I will strip it down again and recheck. May have to turn down a packing washer otherwise it will slip out of 2nd gear. Still not sure of acceptable lateral tolerances on the main shaft though?

Re: 1098 gearbox reassembly
No the originals were fine, I imagine you are referring to the rear main shaft bearing that locates in the rear alloy housing. If that were the case what's the solution - how much play should there be if any? Thanks, John

1098 gearbox reassembly
I have replaced ny daughters 1098 lay gear/shaft, reverse and first gears and reinstalled the whole assembly. Gears on the 3rd motion shaft are a nice fit but the 2nd gear hub (on which the first gear is located) has a fair bit of lateral play probably as much as 1/8*. By lateral I mean uo and down ...

Twin fuse units
Pardon my attention to detail but page 28 of the current Minor Matters shows a Charles Ware under bonnet pic with two fuse boxes, no regulator box (cos alternator conversion).
Has anyone else done this and what do you do with the former regulator wires?

Angle grinder
My 2year old Clarke 'contractor' 115mm angle grinder is , for want of a better word, knackerred. Motor ok but the bevel gears and chuck bearing are wobbling about and making a dreadful noise. What would MMOC members recommend for a tougher replacement? The item is in regular use 2-3 evenings a week ...

Re: Ital 1300 spigot bearing
Thanks for reply, it looks like it is a standard fit on most 1275 engines and I think the 1st motion shaft is the same bearing face diameter, will check with them Monday.

Ital 1300 spigot bearing
Putting in an Ital 1300 with 6 hole flywheel, it was previously used in a Traveller with standard gearbox and clutch. Spigot bearing is badly worn and have found that standard 1098 version is too loose a fit. Will the spigot needle roller bearing that ESM and bull motif sell fit? Thanks, John

Could someone let me know where the wiring for the saloon interior lights enters the A post. It would be handy to have interior lights under the dash or parcel shelf of our 65 convertible, thanks, John

BMC reclining seats
I have been asked for pics of covers on the original BMC recliners for the later Morris Minor. See below as I couldn't insert them in a PM. The seat base should take a standard seat cover from ESM/Bull Motif etc but the squab will require one made to a pattern by Newton Commercial - they probably ha...
