I think he means the copper pipe from the carb to the opposite side of the cylinder head.

Mine does not have a 1/4 mark.

There are two damper pads on the steering rack available from ESM. They are not adjustable. If you remove them the pads will probably have a curved wear pattern where they press on to the shaft.
