Re: Hello: Valve guide removal/install tool
Darren, if you run into trouble drop me a PM. I'm not on the forum much any more but can probably help out. I'm sure I've got a home-made drift somewhere in the garage and quite possibly a reamer too. Not to mention several complete spare heads in various states of repair...

Re: Dodgy instrument bulb holder - wiring loom fire
Loom now repaired by taking it apart, splicing in new wires to replace the ones with melted insulation, and re-wrapping it with fabric loom tape. I've also added a new fusebox with fuses for the lights and for the coil/fuel pump, plus a small inline fuse in the dash protecting the instrument panel b...

Dodgy instrument bulb holder - wiring loom fire
Long time no visit! I was driving my Traveller along the Welshpool bypass some time ago when smoke started pouring out of the demister vents. I quickly shut the ignition off, pulled over onto the verge, grabbed an adjustable spanner, popped the bonnet, and disconnected the battery. Peering into the ...

Re: Battery suppliers
i changed my dads car battery from that shop after2years 11 months ,could you not put the battery on the car and leave the lights on to flattern it then change it just an idea :D It was flat. It had got to the stage where it was discharging itself within hours of taking it off the charger. I wonder...

Battery suppliers
The battery in one of my cars gave up the ghost during the recent cold weather. Charging it for a few hours would give it enough oomph to start the engine, but when I left it overnight it had completely flattened itself again by the morning. Not entirely unexpected; tired batteries usually choose co...

Re: Hazards for relayed indicators
It is possible; I've done it on one of my cars. It took a couple of extra relays and some slightly complicated re-wiring. There are a few gotchas (eg. in one configuration I tried, pressing the brake pedal while the hazards were operating made the ignition pulse on and off! ). Unfortunately I...

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know. The PDF form linked to from here doesn't mention the closing date for pre-booking.

Do we have to book in advance in order to camp on-site? It's looking like I won't know until the last minute if I can make it this year.

Re: Water leak. Best method to fix it is.....
Nice idea, but it's flush on the head. When the head was last off, I tried and impact hammer with alot of heat and I still couldn't get it out. The car lives at my Mothers house so I'll check it at the weekend. Someone at work suggested welding a nut onto it. The heat should shock it loose and I co...

I think it would give a less useful reading because it's after the thermostat.

Impressive (no pun intended!).
I wouldn't have expected resin to be hard enough to press fine details into steel like that. How much force do you need to apply?

The accelerometer in a phone/iPod doesn't provide a very accurate level reading. They might be good enough for putting up a bookshelf but I wouldn't rely on it for setting your car's suspension geometry.

I think AP Drivelines bought the part of Borg and Beck that made clutches some time ago, but I don't know what happened after the UK factory shut down a couple of years ago.

Don't do what I did on one of my cars and hide it in such an inaccessible location that you have to either lie flat out across the seats or get the passenger to operate it for you! ;)

Re: Hazard lights ..... on a budget
As I posted I spotted my error, indeed a permanent live (not ignition) to the hazard unit would be needed. at the moment I'm looking at maplin for the DT relay, cant see DPDT, any other suppliers to recommend? I will be putting it together over the next couple of weeks so we'll see how we get on. I...
