Re: Marina 1.3 oil pressure take off

I had a T piece on a 1300 Ital block. It was a tight fit but bending the terminal slightly on the pressure switch allowed you to get the wire between the starter and the block. Just about to transfer that T piece on to my current Marina engine. Do I need to drain the oil before removing the switch?

Re: Air filter for 1275/HS4

I bought a Traveller last year that came with a 1275 Marina engine which has a 12G3538 Mini manifold, HS4 carb and MGB air filter box. It has the Morris Minor Centre 1.5" large bore twin silencer exhaust system with the link pipe to the cast manifold. However, sitting in my parts store from a p...

Re: Removing headlamp rim

I've just fitted plastic Wipac bowls and Lucas LUB383 halogen headlights. I'm having trouble getting the outer rims on as the headlamp unit sticks out further at the top than the bottom - as in PSL's photo. I set the alignment myself against a wall. Unsure if this was correct, I took it to a local g...

Re: Go with noakes

Reading on the BBC News website today that John Noakes is missing, made me think of "Go with Noakes" and the Morris convertible. My childhood memories are of John doing the car up and then touring round the countryside. I do have a vivid recollection of Geoff Capes as a passenger in the Mo...

Re: HOW DO I REMOVE THIS BOLT?

I have been advised that in the 90s Henrics supplied the rear chassis repair panels with a 5/16 thread on the mounting pin. Reason unknown.

Re: Thread sizes

I am having a problem with the thread size of the drop link mounting pin on the rear chassis leg. It's really only a problem as I am trying to fit a Spax CK10 Conversion Kit which involves fitting a modified mounting pin over the original pin. The Spax pin has a ⅜“BSF thread which I believe is what ...

Re: HOW DO I REMOVE THIS BOLT?

The thread's not worn - just smothered in copper grease! I doubt it's been re-cut as it would be awkward to get a die on to it. Also the car was restored 20 years ago and the underside is still absolutely solid. Both rear chassis legs were replaced at that time. Could it be a batch of rogue panels?

Re: HOW DO I REMOVE THIS BOLT?

Looking at some of the parts suppliers' catalogues, the thread should be ⅜" BSF. Has anyone come across the situation whereby the thread is smaller - possibly ¼"?

Re: HOW DO I REMOVE THIS BOLT?

Can anyone tell me what size of nut fits on that damper link pin on the rear chassis leg? I am trying to fit a Spax CK10 Conversion Kit just now but the thread on Spax's upper mounting pin sleeve is larger than the thread on the pin on the chassis leg. The nut that I removed from the chassis pin was...

Re: REAR AXLE HUB OIL SEAL

Working on this myself as I try to get my 1960 convertible back on the road. I have fitted a later axle bought on eBay as mine didn't have a filler in the axle case and I wanted to fit a 3.9 diff without it being awkward to fill with oil. The drums that came with the axle were a bit oily so I am cha...
