The plates were purchased about 6 years ago and fitted with washers against the pin. They were purchased as one side of the rear spring was rubbing against the inner wing very slightly. They were removed 4 years ago and bushes replaced when the car was restored. I have contacted the supplier to aler...

Sheared shackle plates beware!!

Hi, Car due MOT soon and on pre inspection the 4 shackle plates on the rear springs had all sheared. They are lengthened ones that I bought from a supplier a few years ago. Bolted an angle bracket to it. The seat belt brackets are nice and strong too.

The rear ones are right angle brackets from a seat belt mounting with a packer underneath bolted through the floor with a plate underneath. The front are angle iron dexion and bolted through the original holes.

I have them fitted to my car. I will try and take a few pics. They are bolted to angle iron and then bolted to the floor.

Do you have the vacuum advance pipe connected to the carb? The advance in the distributor is electronic but you need to either seal the end at the carb or keep the pipe connected.

I have used the fibreglass ones back and front and they are good. New chrome seems to be poor quality from just about all suppliers. From other threads Birmingham Morris Minor Centre would seems to offer the best quality chrome.
