Re: Our 1st Moggy. 1956 Split Screen. WSL 230

Looking at the pics on the e bay advert, you already have a later engine and box. Need to check the diff ratio. Could still be the original 5.375:1
Nice car btw :D

Re: 803cc gearsticks

I've come across three different 803 gearsticks on my travels;

Long straight - off a 1953 car
Short straight
Short, bent - off 1956 car I think.

None to hand so I can't compare the size of the fitting at the stick base.

Re: Alternative wood for traveller framing.

Ash is more flexible than oak - one of the reasons it has been used for car bodies for so long.

Ash prices should fall once Ash Dieback takes hold :(

Re: What is the clubs nominated charity for 2015

An observation..... When I joined the club in 1983, The Chairman was John Frye, Secretary Ray Newall, Spares Office Bryan Gostling. When I left the club in 2014 - (club membership was of no benefit to me; - also no thanks for your support / why are you leaving after all this time?), the same three p...

This info was taken from chassis plate, not the engine, which is why we are still none the wiser...

That reminds me, Chris, where's your mate, the one who's helping you with the lbm research!! He must be knee deep in it, not being here lately Doesn't appear to be a forum member anymore - has changed all his posts to 'bye bye'...... Opportunity for someone else to fill the gap? Must be someone on ...

Re: LBM Models ?

Yet (so far) only 3 LBM,s from October 1956 to December 1957, Series 3 two doors have been 100% verified, and NOT one of them is totally original. What do you mean by totally original? An earlier post indicated all 2 door saloons built between 1951 and 1958 were LBM. Surely there are plenty of 1956...

Well we haven't been told how the numbering system works, or indeed what the 'F' suffix denotes, so difficult to know the response. How about letting us know? Re: LBM Models ?

So back to the subject.... Having owned my Morris for 32 years I am fairly au fait with the difference between models..... I have said in an earlier post that I don't find the notion that tourers were made from chopped saloons or vv. plausible, this... But there were still some Series 2 BODIES Lying...
