Re: 1958 948- A 'quick' touch up

epic restoration thread, with multiple Morris vehicles in your pictures. How did you strip the bonnet, chemical or bead blasted? a very watchable thread I have to say. I used a preparation wheel in the angle grinder. They are not the cheapest thing but they are amazing at removing old paint without...

Re: 1958 948- A 'quick' touch up

There has been a little more progress. I found that there was a lot of difficulty in preventing any foriegn matter setting on the panels when they were drying. I decided to create a homemade spray booth. A cheap gazebo from eBay :D http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u539/mrmorrisminor/38686BC8-FFAD...

Re: 1958 948- A 'quick' touch up

A little more progress, starting with the gloss on the panels. It's been a challenge to get the garage warm enough to spray and my heater keeps stirring up a lot of crap in the atmosphere. Having said all that the results could be worse. Starting with the insides of the doors: http://i1320.photobuck...

1958 948- A 'quick' touch up

Hi all, I decided a while back I needed a reliable 948 for a daily runabout. This one came up on eBay and it looked reasonably solid, just needing recommisionning and a cosmetic touch up. http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u539/mrmorrisminor/IMG_1640_zps4hdbnazl.jpg On closer inspection once home, ...

Re: BT van rebuild

Hi all, Just to confirm that the van restoration continues but at a slow pace.... As usual I have got a little distracted by other things, mainly a house referb, and a bare metal re spray of my 1958 4 door.... 'a quick blow over' that got a bit out of hand!! I also got a little put off as I am now a...

Re: National Rally.

I agree it was a great weekend, these events are what you make them. I also agree that numbers were lower than other years and I personally was a little disappointed with the auto jumble. For me it's not necessary the distance but the ability to get the fri and mon off to travel the longer distances...

Re: BT van rebuild

The last two weekends have seen a little more progress. The loading bay section of the van is all uncharted territory so it's taking a little longer to fathom out. First up was the near side rear wheel arch:[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1426455315_7584 [/frame] I repeated the procedure ...

Re: BT van rebuild

Well work has begun on the rear section. First to get attention was the rear valence.[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1425246910_7584 [/frame][frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1425246942_7584 [/frame] The corners were in poor condition and the inner webbings attaching to the inner...

Re: BT van rebuild

So Progress on this project has been a little slow due to the distractions of re-spraying my brother's 4 door and my convertible... The results of both however have been quite pleasing. :D[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1423433924_7584 [/frame][frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=14...

Cam shaft timing?

Hi all, been driving A series Mogs for a few years now but have recently ventured onto pastures new- a lowlight sidevalve! The car arrived to me as an unfinished project. The engine had been removed, checked, new gaskets etc but was not running. I've started to go through the usual list to get thing...

Re: BT van rebuild

So today I started to put the gutter back on the passenger side. Unfortunately both of the two big parts people were out of front gutters so I have adapted a saloon rear (it's just a bit of J beading so can be bent to shape easily)[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1395607091_7584 [/frame][f...

Re: 7" front brake shoes

Thank you. Yes I've got a set I bought a while ago. Although these look to be cheaper so I think I may order a set to keep in 'stock' :D

Re: 7" front brake shoes

Excellent, thank you. I was hoping that it would be just a case of that. I shall be taking my water spray with me when I take the hubs off!

Re: BT van rebuild

Just started to investigate the cab gutters. Passenger side does not seem too bad, just a few local repairs on the top of the door frame to do before fitting the new gutters.[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1395517411_7584 [/frame][frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1395517441_7584 ...

7" front brake shoes

Hi all, My '53 series II which is running on the early 7 drums/hubs from the MM era is in need of a new pair of shoes (has just started making that lovely rivet against drum sound). I have been very pleased with the braking performance so I assume that the shoes she is running are from a much differ...

Re: BT van rebuild

So a little more progress this weekend. The sunshine and rise in temp proved to be a slight distraction as I ended up spraying the primer on my brother's saloon project!! [frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1394401048_7584 [/frame] After all that I managed to get the floor strengtheners in, r...

Live and work in Rochester and my mum's place (where all the work goes on) is in Blackheath...spend most of my time on the A2!!. I've seen a minor million in Strood but that's abo...

Re: BT van rebuild

Superb welding and repair work! Nice repairs and no patching up, like how you make panels and not overlapping them onto the old metal and grind them flush and smooth... really good and nice to see another Bt van saved :) Thank you. I was beginning to wonder if the cab was worth saving at one point ...
