Re: Rocker nut thread?
My cars 1966 & the rockers are kind of pressed steel so I guess they're the 1/4 unf, if the originals were high tensile then I suppose it's not ok to replace with a standard 1/4 unf nut.

Rocker nut thread?
Hi all.
Adjusting my valve clearances yesterday & one of the locknuts on a rocker has a stripped thread. Are they 1/4" unf? And are they a special nut or will one that fits do the job?
Thanks.
Neil.

Wow, that's shocking.
It'd be interesting to split an original and see what's inside one of those.

Re: Fuel gauge faulty
For safety's sake I'll wait until I've used half a tank before I remove the sender.
Do you know what the gasket is made of? Is it something I need to buy before taking it off in case it tears or is it something I can make out of cork or thick gasket paper?

Re: Fuel gauge faulty
It's not always going to the same position but just doesn't go beyond half. I first put approx. half a tank of fuel in and it went to half & gradually fell back as it should with use to just under a quarter. I then filled it up & it only registered half and as yet hasn't started to drop so I...

Fuel gauge faulty
Hi. The fuel gauge in my 1966 minor was working fine when I last used the car two years ago but now I've just got it back on the road it only goes up to half when the tank is filled up. I had the tank out while I was sorting the car out & painted it but as far as I remember I didn't remove the s...

Re: breather pipe from air cleaner to engine
I had one of those inline filters on my last Morris when I got it & it led to fuel vaporising when it was hot, definitely best removed.

Re: Correct sills !!
They don't want sealing. A slight gap allows air to circulate to keep the sills dry inside. It'd be worth taking them off though to examine the sills underneath & apply some anti-rusting treatment.

Re: Seatbelt puzzle – where are yours anchored?
It wouldn't be difficult to be thinner than me . Also the originals I imagine would have been fixed belts rather than inertia reels so may have had more adjustment?

The bits that you can see there are just bolt on covers over the sills.

Re: Hooray, back on the road.
That's bad news. But if today was anything like Sunday you didn't miss anything. I've been the last few years on the Monday & it's been really good, lots to see and a decent autojumble. But on Sunday the turnout of cars was very disappointing & most of what was there was modern Japanese stuf...

The dealer responsible for the really poor work previously on my car came from Bristol area I believe, not sure exactly Ware-abouts, never been.

I've bolted my buckles to the flat floor in my 2-door in exactly the same place as yours. Mine are too short too

Yes, my car came with stacks of receipts for work done at Wares before I got it. I've spent the last 18 months putting it right

Re: Water pump removal
Thanks for the replies chaps. I did the job this afternoon, I did remove the radiator because I thought it'd be a good opportunity to give it a good flushing through while it was off. The job went fine & fitted new thermostat & housing, silicon hoses & fan belt too before filling with fr...

Re: Hooray, back on the road.
Yay, a good day for mot's all round then. I've done 50 miles in it today already with some trepidation.
Might be brave enough to try taking it on a 70 mile round trip to Thoresby classic car show tomorrow.
