Thanks for the offer Rob but Bryan has just sent me four secondhand ones so I'm sorted now.

Re: Split screen centre pillar screws
The screws are quite unusual, they are hollow and are threaded internally and screw on to studs that are screwed into the pillar. Two of mine had just rotted away. I was surprised that they weren't made of brass. I have heard back from ESM and, no they don't have any. Just nuts that screw on to the ...

Re: Split screen centre pillar screws
Great, thank you for that, I'll get in touch with them.
I only need the screws though, everything else is in good nick.

Split screen centre pillar screws
Hi, this is a bit of a long shot but does anyone know whether it is still possible to get hold of the screws that hold the centre pillar in place on the split screen? Or possibly even have some they would be happy to selll? If they are anything like the outer trim then I guess they are virtually mpo...

Re: Chassis welding .
I would certainly recommend Jonathon Evans, his work is very good and he's a really nice bloke.
Well worth getting to know even if you don't use him for that job.

Re: Getting grease into new top trunnions
Ah, interesting...thank you for that tip. I will attempt to file a deeper channel in the inside of the trunnions and will grease them up as described. Thank you for the advice.

Re: Getting grease into new top trunnions
Thanks Phil, I will have a look at some later date (can't face going through all that again so soon) and take your advice. Interestingly all parts, apart from the bottom trunnions, came from club spares! It does appear I must have got a pair that don't got a well defined groove in them otherwise I w...

Getting grease into new top trunnions
Hi there, just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem or if any advice can be given on getting grease into my new top trunnions? Back in May I replaced the front swivels and top and bottom trunnions. Looking at them again today I decided I should whack a bit of grease into them seeing as...

Re: Running problem that feels like fuel sarvation
Indeed, and as some wise old sage said, probably on this thread in fact, at least you can replace the points and condenser at the side of the road if you are sensible enough to carry spare ones, (which I have also done numerous times) whereas what do you do when the electronic ignition fails? Apart ...

Re: Running problem that feels like fuel sarvation
Excellent, thanks for your responses to the fuel in the vac unit issue. I have a 'modern' black plastic vac tube so no longer have the non return unit fitted to the old metal tube. I always wondered what that bit was for, so thanks for enlightening me on that one. And I'm glad to hear I'm not the on...

Re: Running problem that feels like fuel sarvation
Hello again, well this morning I swapped the electronic dizzy for the old 'trusty' points and condenser version again and lo and behold the problem seems to have cleared up. I took her for a run that included several hills, one very steep and no problems so far. So I will now email Acuspark and see ...

Re: Running problem that feels like fuel sarvation
Hello again and thank you all for your suggestions and ideas they have been very helpful. Judging from the first posting I have a sneaking suspicion that it may well be the electronic ignition so I will do as suggested and swap the dizzy back to the original before I start draining the tank and all ...

Re: Running problem that feels like fuel sarvation
Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. Yes, checked the mixture early on. Tried all the simplest things first. I could do as suggested and swap the old dizzy for the electronic one and then at least that would rule that out for definite. As you say it could be literally anything! But ticking thing...

Running problem that feels like fuel sarvation
Hi, I have a very frustrating problem and I can't seem to get to the bottom of it. I'm running a standard 1098 engine and carb with electronic igniton, which has been on for about 18 months. Since Christmas and for no apparent reason my car has been coughing and spluttering on every journey over abo...

Re: Value of 1955 series 11, 2 door saloon?
Thank you for your replies, I guess they are going up all the time. It was insured for £2000, and I've just been pranged so I think I may increase the value after this...its been a steep learning curve!

Value of 1955 series 11, 2 door saloon?
Hello, for insurance purposes, I need to state the value of my car. She is in very good original condition, a little scruffy around the edges due to her age, not concours by any means, but tidy. She has a 1098 under the bonnet in place of the original 803. I have had her for 5 years and she was valu...

The voltmeter reads correctly for a torch battery, and my auto electric friend agreed with you about didgital voltmeters potentially reading wrong, so he has an older one he is going to come and test it with. I have now heard back from BM who suggest that if the battery draws more than 14v @ 1000rpm...

Maybe I'm just being niave but I would be very surprised if regulators were sold uncalibrated. What would be the point? They wouldn't work properly and how many people these days would know how to calibrate one? There is a section in my workshop manual on how to do it but its not something I would b...
