Re: Sump Heater?

Much Googling later, I found one other which has been polished and turned into a trendy electric lamp! It was, however, presented as having been a greenhouse/cold frame heater. I suppose that ultimately it's a heater, and I suppose what you use it to heat comes down to you! I would, however, love to...

Re: Sump Heater?

Of course the odd thing is that with a normal lamp sized wick type burner, the heat output will not be that great, and with mesh sides it's not windproof. I do remember an old chap back in Lincolnshire back the 60's who put a full size Valour paraffin heater in his A35 which fell over going round a ...

Sump Heater?

I recently found this paraffin heater in an antique shop in an old mill up here in Lancashire. It's small - about 8 inches high and 4" square, roughly the size of a box of Celebrations. General opinion is that it is a sump heater from the days of monograde oils that were thick in the cold (I ha...

Re: wanted - pump oil can with grese nipple end to do steering r

Thanks so far. The problem that I have so far has been getting a grease gun onto the nipple, the parcel shelf gets in the way of putting a straight push type gun on, and I draw the line at removing the parcel shelf to oil the steering! One of my friends, an MOT tester, said he would fail a car that ...

wanted - pump oil can with grese nipple end to do steering r

Can anyone suggest a source of a small pump type oil can with a grease nipple type end suitable for pumping Hypoy 90 into the steering rack? (cue somebody saying "don't you put grease in that?"). On my '69 saloon the parcel shelf restricts the size of the gun/can useable here. (and sorry a...

Re: 50 mph

It never ceases to amaze me how many people don't actually know what the National Speed Limits are for their vehicle. At a branch quiz night a few years ago most people thought that the UK speed limit for a car on a single carriageway road under the national speed limit was 50, not the 60 that it is...

Re: james may

Just watched it on the i-player c/o to the link (thanks for that). I think it's mostly fair comment on the basically complacent attitude of those in charge of British industry in general at the time though as far as the Morris is concerned, I wouldn't ever describe the A-series as "wheezy"...

Re: So what do YOU want from the MMOC website?

I've stayed clear of Facebook as I don't want to turn into one of those people who walk 'round all the time staring into an iPad (or whatever they are called) for fear of missing a message from one of their "friends" - and in doing so ignore the real people who they are nearly mowing down!...

Re: A Commercial Christmas

Thanks to the TV adverts, I'm usually fed up with Christmas by the middle of October. Maybe it should be re-named the "Mid-Winter Festival of Consumerism"....... :D

Series MM Saloon - Lancashire

FOR SALE: 1952 Series MM 4-door saloon. I have owned this car since 2008, it is very solid with excellent wings and chassis legs, and has rebuilt brakes which are very good. The original interior is in good order for it's 60 years. Clutch and gears are good with no horrible noises. The car has a rec...

Re: SERIES MM FOR SALE

I am surprised to see that it is still for sale, it looks a very nice car ..just noticed that the front jacking point is missing at the bottom of the inner wing....... Interesting - I didn't realise that there should be one there! I think that the car has had a very thorough rebuild maybe 20 years ...

Re: SERIES MM FOR SALE

Ok - will organise some more detailed photos and post this week. The car is stored in a workshop at an old cotton mill a few miles from where I live so it will probably be Wednesday before I can do this. Hope that's ok. If you have any particular questions in the meantime though, please feel free to...

Re: mopeds

Only just found the thread.....I can add another couple of Ariels - a roadworthy 1941 ex-Army 350, a currently dismantled 350 Red Hunter and a little 192cc ex-Police LE Velocette. Did you know that the LE was in production from 1948 to 1971.....does that remind you of anything? We did have Raleigh a...

Seat fixing bolt size required.

Hopefully simple question.......what size/thread are the bolts that secure the front seats? The car in question is a '68 saloon if that has any bearing on it.

Hello Bern. Thanks for the offer of use of the spring compressor. I'm over in Horwich, which is where the photo was taken. One of those streets that could be one of a variety of places 'round here! The house dates from 1888 when the Lancashire and Yorkshire railway built their loco works here and th...

Re: Engine Problem..

Thought I'd better update on this one! Basically, it's back together with it's new Australian pistons and seems fine though it's only run since reassembly has been from the old cotton mill that it lives in to the MOT station (it passed) - and back to the mill where it is going to stay until the salt...
