Changing head gasket

My head gaskets blown, i'm in the process of changing it but need to know if I can get the head off without removing anything inside the head. I've got everything disconnected but the head won't move.

Good timing! I'm about to attempt a bottom trunion replacement. My mechanical knowledge is nill but it looked pretty straight forward. I was goin to jack up the front end, take of the wheel and start un-skrewing bits. I don't have a workshop manual but I have got an 'exploded diagram' and a haynes m...

I always assumed that the oil you put into the engine was also going into the gearbox. Am I wrong? Can you put a different oil into the gearbox and if so how do you get it in there?

Thanks for all the replys. I went for Halfords own 20w50. API SE CC, 5 litres for £16.99. Just in time. I nearly put the full 5 litres in! Nice to see you've "borrowed" my signature :-) Borrowed? It was shamelessly stolen. I wanted a signature that might give me some credibility on the Mog...

OK. Sod's law. I found two just after putting up that post. It's listed on ebay as part: SF80. Was there different trafficators for different models or will they all be the same? Mine's a '59 saloon.

Broken trafficator[sp]

I had my passenger side trafficator sticking out when I dropped off a friend. He got out the car and walked into it, breaking the orange plastic part of the trafficator. :x I've searched the online spare parts stores but I can't find this part. Anyone know where to get one or have one for sale?

Yeah cheers. I was just reading about dynamos. It said you need to run about 6 miles before the charge from the battery is replaced from starting the motor.

The red light goes out when I rev the engine and it happily idles away once it's warmed up a bit. I assume I have a dynamo. It's a 1959 and as far as i'm aware nothings ever been updated from new although engine parts would obviously have been replaced.

I jumped it from another car and it started instantly and ran fine round the block a couple of times. The batteries pretty new. No more than 3-4 months. It was in my drive and started every time even if it had been sitting for over a week. This is the first time i've had a problem. I'll get one of t...

It's started really well every time i've used it but yesterday when I tried to start it....she gave up. It ...

How do you open the bonnet?!

This is quite embarassing. I recently bought my first Morris Minor. A 1959, 4 door saloon but I can't get the bonnet open. I'm pretty sure everyone on here can tell me how.

Need vintage style plates.

Hi everyone. I recently bought my first morris minor. A 1959, 4 door saloon in clarendon grey. Everything on the car is totally original and nothing's been added since new but the number plates were removed by the previous owner so he could put them on a wedding hire car. I want to buy some replica...
