Re: Water Leak

Just changed the bypass hose this afternoon and it appears to have stopped the leak. What an annoying little part it is!

Re: Insurance

When I was 18 I insured with Footman James, the first year was £600, went down to £400 on the second year, then on the third year they wanted £700! I took out my policy with Lancaster at 21, fully comp for £200. Adrian Flux insure young drivers, but I found them to be a bit more pricey though. Some ...

Re: MOTOR CAR JOKES - ADD YOURS

Did you hear about the cargo plane carrying Datsun parts? The hold came open and it started raining Datsun cogs! A police officer pulls a man over for speeding and has the following exchange: Officer: May I see your driver's license? Driver: I don't have one. Officer: May I see the registration for ...

Re: Insurance

I can recommend Lancaster Insurance, they were 3 times cheaper than Footman James for me.

Re: Water Leak

Ok, I'll do some investigating. I had a look on ESM at the water pump and they suggest replacing the thermostat at the same time, is this really necessary?

Re: Water Leak

Ok, I will have a look at that. The leak only appears when the engine is up to temperature and the water is flowing round the system.

Thanks

Water Leak

Hello

I appear to have a water leak at the bottom of the engine, near the crankshaft pulley, between the block and the front cover. Any ideas?

Thanks

Re: Ignition light confusion

Hello, been a while since I posted on here. I'm having the same problem with my car. I am getting no IGN light when I turn the key and just a faint glow when the engine is running. I don't currently (no pun intended) own a multi-meter so have been unable to do any checks regarding charging etc. I ha...

I think most of us have one of these. The ones I've come across cover all variants of the Minor.

Here's a slighty better view of us, also from the Telegraph. Probably been posted on the messageboard before though.

Re: other people's headlights

i believe it is technically illeagal (or frowned upon) for flashing lights though, as it can be misleading as to why you are flashing. I was flicking through the Highway Code the other day, it states: "110 Flashing headlights. Only flash your headlights to let other road users know that you ar...

Re: "Morris Minor Driving Instruction"

I agree with that too. In the latest issue of Practical Classics it describes the Moggie as sluggish, I think they can be quite nippy. Speaking of the Vauxhall Corsa... think how many young people have learnt to drive in these and had one as a first car, I think in the future there will be some affe...

Re: A New Young Morris Owner seeking advice...

I sometimes wear a flat cap and some leather, string backed driving gloves. I believe the Minor was designed to accomodate a driver wearing a hat, hence the high sides.
