Re: pros and cons of a 3.7 diff

Yep I have a 3.7 diff in a standard 1098 and the 1248tpm speedo is spot on. Don't really notice the reduced acceleration as the 1098 engine is a good old slogger. When I get round to it I will wire the extra green warning light at the top of the speedo as an extra indicator warning light though you ...

Re: Mirrors for Morris Minor van

Yes when I had my van I remember it was truly frightening driving round London especially if it was dark and raining, the rearward vision was terrible. I ended up fitting some proprietory Landrover accessory mirrors which bolted through the doors with a backing plate inside. Not elegant but they did...

front lower end of inner wheel arch

Hi i am having to do some welding in this area, the picture is of someone's repair on the forum, apologies, forget whose but it looks really good - my question is, are there repair panels available for these 2 repair areas or do you have to make your own as here? I am a bit short of time so would pr...

Re: Prop shaft too short?

I wouldn't go trying to modify the back axle as you say the bump stops are in line with the welded plates so all seems well there. Prop is correct length so that's ok. I am wondering how much clearance you have between the rad and the fan.

Re: 1275cc engine with the Minor 4 Speed gearbox

If you gear it up a bit with either a 3.9 or 3.7 diff the drivetrain will have an easier time and less risk of snapping a halfshalf due to the extra power of a 1275 -softer start. :)

You can always fit the 5 speed later if you need to....and have a super overdrive

Re: Top suspension pivots

How would a tester know that a nyloc nut was not original fitment if you fitted one I wonder?
Come to that if a mechanical arrangement is ok can you fit 2 locking nuts instead of a splitpin - i.e. to front of the tie rods?

Nice work! Looks like you have the poly pads as well as the bushes :D I like the idea of 'em (I have them too) never heard from anyone if they do actually make a great deal of difference though!

Re: Old English White wheels - painting of...

I think someone on here recommended mixing pure white gloss with magnolia 50/50 and this is very close to OE white apparantly. I was planning to do this next spring and use a good quality gloss paint like Leyland or similar

When setting up my choke cable, I make sure that the first notch on the lever just operates the throttle cam enough to increase the revs to about 1000 rpm or there abouts....... without altering the mixture. When I am sitting in a queue for any period I then pull the choke one notch to raise the id...

Do you know I find the standard brakes perfectly ok if I am wearing decent shoes or work boots, much less so if wearing something a bit flimsy like Gucci winklepickers

I have had 4 Minors now, all dynamo and daily use and never felt the need to put in an alternator. I bet your old battery was just a bit past it - if you get yourself a multimeter (cheap - about £7 -ebay) you can check whether it is holding a charge and use it for lots of other things. A good 12v ba...
