Re: Gearbox woes
The clutch pedal must be up against the underside of the floor before adjustment is undertaken. As I am a wimp I tend not to work upside down and take out the cover plate floor anyway - but I can match it up with the brake pedal and rest of floor by eye. Originally I fitted everything back with a ne...

Re: Spotted today.
Been wandering around bits of Ealing lately and there is an Austin A40 rusting away in a garden and a Split Screen Morris Minor High Headlights 4 door turning to rust on the road (having the advantage of Tax , but no MOT I guess). I've no space or money to take them on as my own Traveller is going ...

Now some had the white plastic on black plate, was this a dealer option or aftermarket , or later than 1958 ?

Re: Spotted today.
Post Office Red (?) Traveller a few cars back in the queue behind me in SW London this afternoon - honest it wasn't a road run. Earlier in the week my 1960 4 door squeezed past a similar Daimler Dart going south up Sheen Lane after leaving Richmond Park. Nice to get two silver on black reg vehicles ...

Re: Early sidelights as flashing indicators
Someone else can confirm, but for early 1000s the deeper Glass front sidelights the correct flashing arrangement bulb and holder is not the same as the rear stop/tail light bulb of later 1000s and similar cars. The 'pips' offsets are different ( I think they are dead opposite and less 'deep'. Still ...

Traveller Seats, 1962
For a October 1962 1098 Grey (light blue in the real world) Traveller, what would be the original colour seats? Black , or Light Blue ? Vynal or Leather ? Both Drivers and Passenger Side to Tip and fold, or one side only ? I assume that the October 62 registrations could be part of the intermediate ...

Re: My 1960 4 door Moggie called... Moggy
Looks pretty close to 1960 to me ( radiator top tank height, rear brake lights, air intake assembly), clap hands wipers. The add on amber indicators presumably are a OZ highways requirement, but look odd to british eyes, less deep or glass dome lucas ones (in the front wings not panel) were a more n...

948cc Clutch Assemblies New - Quality Issues?
1) Can I line up using a 1098 primary input shaft / 2) Are these c£70 Thrust Bearing/Driven Plate / Pressure Plate kits any good, the old unipart etc sets used to be £100+ , so are these presumably budget clones worth the saving ? 3) Rather than the coil spring presure plates, are there better kits ...

Re: Seized brakes advice sought
Doubt if they are bent, I re-fitted the wheel nuts and hit on them, not too many strokes as I could then rotate with the bar wedged accross a pair of studs ( that normally works better with a flat bar but I didnt have one to hand ). They will get a wiggle and test though before I get cylinders as re...

Re: Re-registering a 6 chr number plate?
Ah yes, but bear in mind if your dad had transferred those registations there would be more cars with uxm etc numbers around! :D Only if they hadn't got cubed first , in the days before we started actually manging to get older cars rebuilt and used daily. The one that got away was I think U9222 (or...
