Re: Interior Originality?

I went with saying round since both our duotone '63s have round, and the ESM site says the pear version is from 1964 onwards.

Re: Interior Originality?

I am a fan of originality so I need to have a think if I want to change the interior back to duo tone… I should imagine it would be a pricey endeavour. I'm like you, but I've come to the conclusion that there are two ways to go about it, you can try and get original second hand/new old stock (NOS) ...

Re: Interior Originality?

I don't think that the new replica duotone covers are a particularly close match to the original anyway. I describe them as Ambrosia Rice Pudding, and aren't a patch on the original style at all (as in it looks nothing like it in both style and colour). the seat covers tend to split where the two m...

Thank you for your kind words and, just to dispel any possible impressions that I might have bought a pup, here's a picture of a spot of Moggie-ownership being enjoyed:- I thought at first you were sporting quite some style of beard and moustache, until I realised it was the side mirror :D Thread's...

Re: The General State of Parts

Is the phone scanning really that good now? I assumed a dedicated laser scanner would be necessary. I have (outdated) 3D modelling experience for video and games and am trying to learn CAD at the moment, it doesn't seem too scary so far! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2BdDqtttuA Box modelling is ...

Just think what a nice drive back you'd have after the train and bus journey to get there :D

Re: The General State of Parts

Might be an idea for clubs to start building up a database of CAD files. With modern 3d scanning (such as the Quixel/Epic Reality Scan for iOS and Android) it would also be possible to photograph OEM parts and convert them to 3D with a phone, of course there may be some clean up and dimension check...

Eventually found the site you were talking about, if you right click on the forum page you find the actual page itself is completely void of any content which explains why it doesn't work :) In the mean time, if there are any posts you wish to view while it's down, then some are available (up to 16t...

Your title is a bit misleading, surely we're meant to ask you Q's, or give you statements to quote back to us, such as:

Re: Din Damp

Shouldn't be too hard to fabricate something similar - if it did exist what's the betting it was asbestos. So based on your description, my idea would be: Two pieces of fiberglass infused cloth (the type that can withstand temperatures of 300c so that it won't go up in flames if sparks touch it). Se...

Not a lost cause judging by this restoration:

Also I reckon The Story of Mog would be a great addition as an article submitted to the magazine.

but a list of tried and tested go to competent folks would stop a lot of scratching around. The trouble is that everyone has their own horror stories to tell, even of the tried and tested places, and it used to be the case you weren't permitted to name them, all you could do is call them "a re...

Re: Traveller rear doors security ?…

As the owner of a convertible I accept my car is as secure as a tent…… Except a tent has a roof up all the time unless you get hit by storms  Since thieves are quite willing to roll under a car, cut off the catalytic converter and then make off with it in a very short space of time, I'd imagin...

Re: Advice please, new owner

CMC have restored other brands such as Aston Martins and a Mini so probably Jaguar is a preference but other work could be done. The only other result for places recommended near Stourbridge (from a new forum search) was 2.1 miles from Stourbridge centre: https://www.aldonauto.co.uk/contact Although...

Re: Advice please, new owner

A quick forum search found another person in 2019 from Stourbridge asking, the response from ShropshireMoggie was recommending:

Google maps says it's 13.5 miles away from Stourbridge, they may do a collect and return service.

Plugs were dry black carbon looking though . Yes, but I think they were talking about where they bought the oil from, not the car.

In the first post, it only mentions buying it from "a previous owner".
