Re: Insurance

All I can add is, dont forget to talk "limited mileage" if youre not going to travel a lot, that will reduce the cost a little, also talk security, something as simple as a disklok or going up market with a dash cam will help.

Re: Is moggy insulting?

But of course the reason I come on this website is to escape all that political jargon and concentrate on moggies.

Re: Is moggy insulting?

Moggie insulting ? Nah. Morgan drivers call their cars mogs too though, they do seem to possess a lot of MOG number plates. As for snowflakes, cant stand the term, it seems to apply to anyone that may care for something and disagree with someone else, the offended party it seems to me is the party t...

Ah, an education as always on this site.
I have the very much simplified 1098 set up so this is quite new to me.

Re: 1965 Black 2 Door Saloon.

She does look the business, I also own a 65 2 door in smoke grey blue. Keep that fag packet though, placed on top of the dash when you park up. Get yourself a disklok, clumsy, irritating to fit and remove and they take up space, but really effective at putting off scroats. The wheels look freshly pa...

Re: Brittax L471 Lenses

I visit what is left of the Britax factory in Bridlington from time to time, through my job supplying engineering parts. They still make lenses but were bought out by Ecco of Leeds where most production now takes place, https://www.eccoesg.co.uk/gb/en/products/Beacons they are specialists now in amb...

First and most likely, a deceased estate sale where contents of house,

Understood and that did cross my mind.
I get the same sad feeling when I discover some vinyl in a charity shop that clearly was a collection.
My kids have already claimed my collection, little vultures  .

Re: Minor roadster

You need really to post this to the custom and modified register on the first page, I am sure they can help.
From a value point of view be prepared to accept there is a limited market for modified minors.
By customising it you reduce your potential market when you do come to sell it.

Re: Morris auction

Did you bid? No, I was looking for a couple of old chairs for a specific area of the house when I stumbled across it just last night. I just thought they may have gotten a better response elsewhere, our very own website for instance. I dont have room for two and cant summon up the courage to sell D...

Re: Fitting seat belts in a factory built 1960 convertible

I dont know if it matters to everybody, but I fitted standard none inertia reel 3 point belts to the rear, pre tensioners were first introduced in Mercedes in 1981 I think.
They were not difficult to fit as existing holes took the mounts in the main.
It just felt more period.

Re: boot rack

Thanks for that, in the end I bought one from ESM that is universal and clips on the sides of the boot. For the uninitiated the stud bolts need shortening before fitting. Anyway its fitted and now I am getting leather straps to hold down the picnic basket. It should look period, which is what I want...

Re: What did Morris get wrong originally?

Indeed, the first huge marketing clanger was to call it Leyland in the first place. Leyland were truck builders, very good truck builders, but thats not an epithet you want attached to your shiny new saloon is it ? With reference to cost cutting through standardisation, Lucas begged all the British ...

Re: What did Morris get wrong originally?

In my opinion they didnt really get too much wrong, given the conditions they were asked to work in. The government of the day however have a lot to answer for. To instruct Austin, led by Leonard "ill tear that bloody place apart brick by brick" Lord, who hated Morris with a passion, to merge fully ...
