Re: Jolting - where to start?

I do like happy endings.
I attended a course with work once, the instructor suggested we should all make a fool of ourselves at least once a day, I remember thinking if only I could limit it to once a day :D

Re: Jolting - where to start?

After a run perhaps check the temperature at the hub caps, hot might indicate a rogue brake shoe or seized hydraulic brake cylinder?
Perhaps a loose spring on a brake shoe?
Jack the car as suggested on a previous post and check by hand the wheels are spinning freely.

Re: rear brakes 1098

Well, it was an education. Removal of the half shaft indeed would make no difference at all, however, things improved dramatically when I slacked off and removed the 4 bolts holding the back plate in place, this gave me lots of space to both remove and refit the brake cylinder. Job done and everythi...

Re: Fuel starvation- any ideas

I purchased a new fuel pump of the electro/mechanical standard variety direct from S.U. 5 years back, it had a breakdown (that involved hot electric internals) every 9 miles, once it was allowed to cool it was fine, for another 9 miles, I had it replaced and everything has been fine since.

rear brakes 1098

Afternoon All, I am to replace the n/s rear brake hydraulic cylinder, it looks an awfully snug fit, do I have to remove part of the hub (held in by a philips screw) as it seems to foul the old unit ?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Stopping the shakes

It is interesting and on reading it I realise I must fall in to the "if it aint broke dont fix it" brigade, also I switch off a little when I see the words "heavily modified" Issigonis Leonard Lord et all would spin at high revs in their graves if they were to understand a cousin from across the pon...

Re: Oil Pressure

Just the same as mine, also a 65 vintage.
Also, once I had fitted a new radiator and water pump I realised the temperature gauge I fitted at the same time became redundant.

Re: 2017 Morris Prices

IMHO at my budget of up to £4k I should be able to buy a 2 door saloon that is structurally sound, entirely roadworthy, but needing some cosmetic and trim improvement. I wouldn't expect to pay more than 2.5-3k for a 2 door of that description, it matches my cars description which is not for sale, b...
