Re: A Minor Setback

Well, I hope thats that, but I recently had what I thought at first was, oh yes, gasps again, the coil. I fitted a spare coil and all was good, for a while, then back came the problem and it turned out to be an intermittent cable break in the LT lead at the distributor cap. Discernible only on remov...

new carpet set

Hi all, I have just fitted a new carpet set to Doris, I am about to take off the gearbox gaiter and cover plate in order to fit the carpet underneath it to get a tidy job as the carpet in question came without trim around the gearbox hole, this is the norm apparently? Anyway the carpet I took out ha...

Re: New Member

And although I am risking becoming tiresome with the subject, get a little window etching kit (you remember them) and etch the windows with the number plate, it puts the scroats right off nicking what in your case looks like a very nice car..

If anyone aint got one already get one of these, they are visual, a right bas£"rd to get off and therefore put the scroats right off. http://www.disklokuk.co.uk/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIwLng2ajH3QIVArDtCh2q4wX0EAAYASAAEgLKdvD_BwE Speed is k...

Re: a solution shared.

Indeed, prior to this I did swap the rotor arm, condensor and even the coil before the meter was unleashed.
Fortunately all those spares are kept in the boot, just in case.

part number DST 107

a solution shared.

Part number DST 107 DST107.jpg Caused an intermittent problem, the worst kind is an intermittent problem. Symptoms, no spark at the points. The cable would break and remake when it felt like it, as a problem shared is apparently a problem halved, I thought a solution shared would be even better. It ...

Re: Books with Minors

Well, its one pence less than the copy you posted according to the sleeve, there is of course a postage charge, I have used Abe books for many years now and found a few gems regarding the motor industry without any recourse to buyer beware tactics being required. I would recommend them unreservedly,...

Re: Rattling from Water Pump?

I would acquire a wooden handled screwdriver and listen at the handle end while touching the various areas suspected with the business end, while the engine is running of course.
The sound will be amplified when you find it.

Re: Brakes

"not to remove play" quite right, which is why I said "finger tight and back the nut off to the nearest hole for the split pin." As you know you cant measure the play accurately as you can only "hand tighten" and then back the nut of to the nearest hole for the split pin, although I am now in danger...

Re: Brakes

If a castle nut and split pin are evident then it is highly likely they are taper roller bearings and just need adjustment. Take out the split pin and remove the castle nut, if the bearings are in one piece then regrease and retighten, not too tight, the position of the castle nut is determined by w...
