Did any one notice the trunion pin shown has threads of equal length as against original has the back one shorter.

Re: MON 87, Series MM

Hi Rob, just sold my 2 enfields but still shoot my Musgrave with 30" barrel. We don't get as many range days at Strensall due to MOD "higher priority bookings" these days. I often go in the MM and always get a crowd round it when there.

Don't forget the red fan blades on the dynamo are longer than the ones fitted to the water pump .

Re: Brakes

Hi Phil, just as an aside, what is the exact legnth of the front axle wheel bearing spacer please. I am in the process of building up a spare set of uprights and may make my own spacers up.

Re: tyres(again!)

You will need to keep the 75 or 80 profile tyre or you will lose speed. When you are at an indicated 60 mph on your speedo ( assuming it is reading correctly) you will only be doing 54 mph!!

Re: SMM high light short/long bonnet ??

My MM is SMM 971** 15th May 1951 tourer and has a short bonnet if that is any help. It left the factory as a high light but was converted to a low light by Stuart & Arden to match the rest of the fleet before delivery to Rentokil in East Grinsted :D

Re: Van exhaust

Hi Propshaft, both silencers are available from minispares, the front one is round section, the rear is oval section. RC40 package gets you both boxes and a piece of pipe to play with. They last about 7 to 8 years. I have been using this system for about 25 years. If you go round to your local exhau...

A mini spares RC40 pair of silencers does the trick for me.

Re: Advice re positive camber

You need to fit spacers each side where the bolt securing the lower wishbone goes through the chassis legs. when you get the wheels vertical or just very slightly positive tighten every thing up and get the track rechecked. I run both my pickup and tourer with 1/2 degree negative and get no corner s...

Re: radiator muff

I used to have a muff like that fitted but an 88deg. thermo sorted it out and I havn't had any problems so far. I did forget to open the muff up once and arrived in Hull with water coming out of the rad. overflow when I stopped!!

Re: Clutch replacement

Engine out is definitely the easiest, and if the gear box has to come out as well you only have to take the floor up and undo the propshaft and mounts etc. then lift it out by hand. I am 80 next year and can still manage it out in a day with out too much trouble. :D

Re: Rear Axle Issues

The collars should be still and rotate with the 1/2 shaft. When you put the brake drum on they should tighten up. make sure the surface of the collars(sleeve) is clean and polished. sometimes the old seal goes hard and damages the surface where the seal runs.

I changed the engine on one of my mogs a few years ago and made a plate of brass and stamped it with my post code and a date, they accepted this without a murmer. :( :(

Hi Rob, nice work, my key fob for the MM is an old Porsche one, then if it is found by the ungodly they will be looking for the wrong car. 8)

Re: Anti Roll Bar Questions

I would also reccomend fitting one. Even my MM tourer goes round corners with hardly any roll. A slight adjustment to the camber angle also helps keep tyre wear more even. 8)
