Re: Dynamo, Regulator and wiggly Amps

See if the brushes are sticking on the dynamo and if the regulator is the old type with screw connections ,check if the wires going in under the screws are tight. I have found on my MM the wire/screw connections oxidise a bit if laid up and this used to happen. :(

Trickydicky has the simple method you don't have to lift it too much. Use an allen key as a dipstick to ascertain the amount of oil. :D

Re: Adding caustic soda to water to clean radiator

Never caustic soda, washing soda is good, it is used in old scotch boilers and makes the water feel slimy. Never red oxide paint it will clog up everything. We live in a hard water area and often put bath salts in to soften the water. :D

Don't forget all the parafins, tractor vaporising oils, diesel fuels and aviation turbine and jet fuel are kerosenes, so we better limit the planes as well. 8)

Check the amount the starter bendix goes in when it is turning. If it is going in too much it tends to jam against the flywheel teeth. :(

Re: Lowlight conversion for series 2

You definately need the quartz headlamps. I had sealed beams in for about 15 years but with todays cars having much brighter headlamps you can't see so well in suburban lighting. I could see ok in the country on the sealed beams but not in suburbia. It's not much problem to make the quartz units fit...

Re: Morris Vedette cooling

Stuart Turner did a 12v centrefugal pump. Could be plumbed in to prime it. Or fit a hand plunger pump in to the system, I think zwicky made one. We had them in lifeboats when I was at sea. :(
