Re: 1968 Police Morris Minor

It might also be worth trawling East Sussex town's facebook photos for the period. In my meanderings round FB I have seen quite a few police Minors.

Re: 1968 Police Morris Minor

There is a specialist register for these and they may able to assist re livery. Almost every force was different and many (most) had no roof lights and very few had blue lights http://www.expolice.mmoc.org.uk Murray Minor, I was some (many) years ahead of you and in the MPS but was it not 'appointme...

Re: Seat fixing bracket extensions

I have been tipped forward a few times when braking hard to avoid the numpties that cut across any classic car, but given the thinning of metal over the years I think stressing / tearing are valid concerns. I have been mulling doing something similar for some time but using additional original type ...

Re: Rear Lights

The lenses were used on various cars and I think with different plinths. I have seen them on MGA and Triumphs I think so the lenses fit the plinths but the plinths may be different according to make/ model. See the attached e bay advert https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lucas-type-L549-rear-lamp-light-unit...

Re: Seat fixing bracket extensions

Ah, i see. Is there not a potential for lateral movement given that there is only one anchor pont to the car floor? What thickness are the bars?

Re: Seat fixing bracket extensions

How about underneath as that are has a strengthening strip for the fixing which, from memory may even have a captive nut. Just bolting through a new hole in the floor, even if the steel is excellent could be risky if it tears under stress.

Re: WATCH OUT! MM LEARNER ABOUT!

Phil, yes still at the Bluebell, good food, excellent Saffron Brewery beer and very good company. Even the Landlord has the bug with a G reg 2 door Saloon in Maroon B rotting quietly in the corner of the car park... Can't be easy running a busy pub and working on a Minor! Next meet is actually at th...

Re: Carpets

Got to agree with you Declan, I saw a Minor at Gaydon which had the original carpet in the centre around the handbrake and although threadbare and faded it was clearly of much better pile and feel than the modern ones wherever they come from. Like you, I would pay a premium for a better product. If ...

Re: Adderley Park Number details needed

I’m sure Chris won’t mind me letting you know but I have seen a draft and it is an extremely useful document even with its gaps which Chris has been trying to plug . So I would support his pleas for this data. Most of us have it to hand and it will, when complete serve the whole Minor community well...

RE the adjuster holes. Dropped I think because you could adjust without checking the state of the shoes, leading to scoring of drums

I was hoping there might be some textured paint which would serve, without cracking. I have been looking for one at an Autojumble so as to experiment.

Re: Interior sun visors

These are the right ones for a 1957 car. I was tempted by these new old stock some time ago but they were $389 a pair so I kept my old battered ones.

Has anyone had any luck refurbishing this type ?
