Pete, any before / after or even just after photos. ? I am more nervous of this than most mechanical work as cocking it uphill really spoil the look and feel of the car

Woolies leather renovation stuff

Has anyone used the Woolies leather renovation stuff? I have a Clarendon Grey 1957 four door with read leather seats. The seats are in decent condition with no tears on the squabs or backs but clearly showing their age. I do not want to replace them as they have a nice patina but would like to feed ...

Re: Heater hose link piece

Phil, many thanks, I think they would do the job but what I am after looks like a solid piece of rubber, the first is like an oversized 'o' ring and the second like two small 'o' rings joined together. I can see them in engine bay pictures but can't find them anywhere.

Heater hose link piece

Hi, does anyone know where I can get the heater hose rubber link ring? In some pictures I have seen it is a simple ring and in others a figure of 8 which holds the two heater hoses together about 9 inches after they come through into the engine bay. None of the catalogues I have looked at seem to li...

Re: Bigger battery with dynamo

Don't go for small and cheap. Halfords sold me a tiny ( well it looked tiny in the battery compartment) battery which was recommended for Minors according to their guide. It was no good at all. Get the best you can afford and one which copes with radio etc even when a dynamo is fitted.

Re: Wiper sweep - clap hands

I had a similar problem when I fitted a 'new' wire motor from a scrap yard. I cheated and with the power off and wipers not parked, I moved the wiper arms on the splines so they were at their fullest and most open. I then reconnected and they parked as normal, retaining the full sweep, not that they...

Re: How many people is it legal to carry in in Morris 1000

As a former police officer (- and yes I' d agree with many of the comments posted re stolen minors - but you gets what you pay for unless you are v rich and can pay for it twice!) unless the vehicle was fitted with seat belts, you do not have to have them. If they are fitted they must be working to ...

I like the bag, my vinyl sleeve is more holy than righteous! What did you use to de-rust the toolkit before painting and did you simply use masking tape on the thread / black jacking insert when painting red ?

Dealer Badges / Stickers

Has anyone any experience of tracking down their dealer from which their Morris came. The British Motor Industry Hearitahe chaps can supply (for a fee) the Garage Details . It is unlikely that the Garage is still in existence though as I found out with King and Harper in Cambridge, who, it seems did...

Re: Indicator Stalk Problem

Once you get the cowl off the assembly is relatively simple
and it is likely that one of the side bits is bent or not screwed down firmly.

Re: Indicator Stalk Problem

What year is the car? Earlier 948 had a combined indicator / horn (non self cancelling) later a stalk with a light on the end and a cowling around the steering wheel.

Re: Original toolkit.

Thanks, it looks like the later ones were painted red but I don't know about earlier Series III I have all the main bits and will get stripping, de rusting and painting, but I suspect black at this stage. I would love to know how they were originally dispatched from the factory and just higgledy pig...

Original toolkit.

Can anyone please tell me a) what was in the factory supplied toolkit and b) what colour they were on a 1957 4 door. I have seen a jack painted a lurid shade or red. Is that correct?
