Re: Adderley Park Traveller's

I would love to meet the 'committee' who decided on this code ! Is it not to Issigonis that the quote ' A Camel is a Horse designed by a committee' is attributed ?

Thanks Chris !

Re: Adderley Park Traveller's

Chris what did BMJ signify. One other thing, on stamping several S2 2 door (BM) NMP plates, I have come across a variant sign Z. XXXX.X ie second dot centrally placed before last digit. Any ideas ?

Re: Adderley Park Traveller's

Should be two numbers up there Z XXXXX and 1234567 earlier models also had a set of letter ie BMH and a single letter . Others had yet another set of numbers on a second strip. Z and first number (Body Number) have nothing to do with the legalities but refereed to batches of body shells produced and...

Safety Video

A brilliant Road Safety video from late 1950's Oxford. Much 'shallow end of the gene pool' driving , even in those days. But apart from the Mr Cholmondley-Warner's narration, good for Minors and MO's too ! https://player.bfi.org.uk/free/film/watch-safety-all-the-way-1953-online?fbclid=IwAR3Me9ubdnIf...

Re: NMP Plates?

The letters are not as sharp as the original, but short of making a proper hardened steel tool and a press with 100 ton plus power, think they are as good as we in a shed in deepest Essex can produce. Mine looks great in Clarendon Grey. I will post a pic when I get the car back.

Re: Expensive Traveller at Aston Workshop.

The NMP plate appears to be from a Morris J type van. That had the strip attached to the plate. Interesting to see if it matches the strips on the bulkhead. Cannot see them in the photo.

Re: Rivets for engine code plate

Alternative to longer studs, which were common in just that position, were extended nuts / stud arrangement to allow for the mounting frame on the oil bath air filter in about 1956 - 58.

Re: NMP Plates?

Right, good news and bad news . Good news is that we have pressed another 100 plates. The Z numbers have been stamped as far as we can. (Some are very long and will not fit) Bad news is the reply from Pryors regarding the bespoke number punches for the right hand side. They have a lead tine of 4 wee...

Re: NMP Plates?

And to continue ..... There are still a number of people who have ordered plates who have yet to supply a) the numerical details or indicate that they want blank stamps and / or supply an address for postage. We now have a growing reserve list and I will soon be processing those in preference to the...

Re: NMP Plates?

Just a quick update on the NMP plates Pressing continues apace - we have pressed over 100 now and no deterioration in the mould. I have dispatched all orders for blank plates - feedback has been excellent - but we have hit a snag with the punches for the right hand number - that was the bit I though...
