Re: Strange advert....

We used to be sent on auto crime courses - how to decode the chassis / engine no's / decode the kite mark on glass etc - location of chassis no. on different makes - much easier now there is a bar code. Not a priority any more and traffic officers numbers have been slashed - hence the rising acciden...

Re: Strange advert....

I think it is a trick of the light , making it look gold as the front image of the HB looks the same as mine. This is an obvious ringer that has fooled the DVLA - identity of an older car transferred onto a more modern version. There is nothing of a 1954 car either pre or post face lift in this one....

Re: Series MM trim

I had thought that all pre 62 ish seats (MM S2 and early S3) were leather squabs and seat cushion areas, the back and sides being a vinyl / leatherette type material matching and door cards , etc matched in vinyl. Happy to be corrected.

Re: Series MM trim

That is a pretty good match, Rob given the passing of time and the satin is almost invisible . The seats would have been leather for the seat and back and other bits vinyl.

Re: Front wing corners

We have been concentrating on the wings but the bonnet should more or less cover the front panel bolts both on the side and the front. What is the gap like on the nearside ?

Re: Seat frames query

Duo-tone probably would be but there were a whole load of different designs in 56-60 including hangovers from S2 (Mine 1957) . This guide isn't bad https://www.morrisminor.org.uk/parts/133-seat-trim-styles the earlier seats had a Dunlopillo cushion and solid base and the later tend to have straps / ...

Re: NMP Plates?

Success at last! After a week in which the laser cutters for the NMP blanks told me that they had cut over 200 blanks 10mm short and I had only 40 of the right size....just about to order some more tin plate when I checked the original against the 'correct' plates to find that they were, in fact 10m...

Mine covers the trim and I think was designed to stop the cloth trim being worn as people got in and out of the back.

Re: Spotted today.

More from Anglesey, this time taken with a camera. Its strange that facebook takes all the photos I take on an I phone with no adulteration, cropping or resizing issues and certainly does not bung them upside down or indeed reject them as this site frequently does, but that may be another issue. Loo...

Re: Bonnet Catch Release broken - help!

You may be able to feel the connecting mechanism by putting fingers into the top of the rad grille on the left hand side of the bonnet emblem and pull left, I have had to do it once.
