Re: Sierra 5-speed & Hydraulic Clutch Issue

By my maths you need a 1039, nearest MM is 1000 , nearly 4% out , once again Speedy cables or 1040 mechanism from a donor...

Re: questions for upgrades in 1275cc Minor

Declan " If a 1625 speedo under reads then he will need a higher TPM not a lower. " A 1625 speedo needs 1625 turns to show 60mph ( or 1 measured mile ) His is under reading ie. showing for example 50 mph at an actual 60 mph , he is getting less turns per minute/mile than before.. so He needs either ...

Re: questions for upgrades in 1275cc Minor

Richard What you need is a 1462 speedometer, the nearest that I know of for a MM is either 1408 ( 4% over reading ) or a 1504 ( 3% under reading ) , the other option is to find a speedometer ( nearest available is 1472 , less than 1% out ) and change out the mechanism ,failing that Speedy cables can ...

If you're going to use it , in all conditions , I'd strip and lubricate and then wrap with denso tape ( or similar ) , but if it's a summer show queen there's no need...

Mogs
Question3 , Yes , but you need to alter the sweep , I take it you have clap hands wipers...and fabricate ( or buy ) a mounting plate... and a little re-wire.

Re: Brake servo

Sorry to say but I've been told by Hydraulic re-commissioners that they are " MY FAVOURITE CAR IS A DATSUN CHERRY " , their words not mine , the rubbers seals are cheap and nasty , as is the metal casting , the other parts of it are up to standard and re-useable.

Re: realigning the doors

I can now answer my own question ,the catch is retained by two No10 UNC 5/8 screws and it feels like you will lose it if you undo both together..with no access from the rear...

Drilled one at once ,easy-outed then re-tapped and re-fitted..

Thanks Alan but to clarify a little , I haven't fitted new seals , just want to re-align the doors and didn't want to drop any hidden plates?

"The simplest thing to do is to slacken off the door latch on the B pillar and hope that you can set it further in as the rubber settles." Having problems aligning the front passenger door , before I try adjusting the latches, are there plates that will drop off in the B pillar if I unscrew the scre...

It's a pressure operated switch, these have far-east replacements which can go "stiff" and need more pressure to operate...I had one and decided to fit a micro-switch on the pedal itself , I'm a happy bunny now...
