Re: GPO Van Re made.

Cool, at 49 years old what is a good website to use. Cheers Matt. Why do you need to use a 3rd party site and not just load images direct to the Forum as required? Are you storing all your images of everything in life to the same 3rd party hosting, and then just linking for convenience? That site y...

Re: GPO Van Re made.

That photo thing you’re using Matt, shows more than your pictures; it features ads and pictures of fat guts and various other crap. Can’t you load to your device directly and attach from there? :o I agree, another consideration of 3rd party image hosting is that they can change their access and a b...

I suggest you search for 'Tyre Size' as this has been gone over time and again. One recently revived post here for example:

Re: Late wings, early light problem

Hi - Here's a link to a post I made a few years ago when I started my Moggie Journey. Basil was given a 'restoration' some 20 years ago which was a little bodged. One aspect being he retained his '54-'56 style rear lights but to get them to fit on the latter donor wings they used chrome bases of '56...

It's not just Classics that are affected ; the change to E10 affects a lot of vehicles pre 2002.

I won't bother actually leaving it here, but I just got a 4Mb image to load and preview.

The Gremlins have clearly gone to bed for a while, before coming back to get us when we're not expecting them...

Re: Late wings, early light problem

Hi everyone I’m doing a full restoration on my 1957 2 door having spent so much time fitting new heritage wings I have discovered the holes in all 4 wings are to big and wrong for the small front side lights and small rear (red lense) lights. They must be late wings for bigger lights, what’s the ea...

Re: fuel sender

Well having done it, I would say: A ) Yes it's easy (so long as you haven't overfilled the tank, making the level higher than the top of the tank  ) B ) You can reuse the old one so long as it's in good condition (I certainly did and that was a couple of years ago) Are you OK with doing basic ...

Re: Photo size

HI Phil I've just tried a couple of photos from my PC and same problem. It must be the Forum Gremlins again.  Nothing's adding, either using Drag n'Drop, nor with 'Add Files' right down to a couple of hundred kb file size. Error Message: Error Could not upload attachment to ./files/3818...

Re: fuel sender

He does say he's topped it up....... Opps. missed that bit. What sort of speedo is it? Gold or black faced? The gold ones, at least, can get stuck sometimes, which a gentle thump on the speedo face will release. That's true, I've had it happen a couple of times with my Gold one, but only after the ...

Re: fuel sender

Well if they have syphoned off your fuel, it would depend on how far in they pushed the hose, as to whether they damaged the sender. It is quite a way over (assuming you have a standard tank). The Sender would've been raised to the top when they did it, if the tank was full to start with, so I doubt...

Re: Authenticity of Vehicles

The best online guide is probably that produced by The Potteries Morris Minor club. If you google that, it should come up. Failing that, purchase one of the many books on the subject by respected authors - Pail Skilleter or Ray Newell have probably written the best. Here's the Potteries Link, which...

Re: New member from Kent registration help

The only problem I have is the registration is now no longer found . They have said they are going to try to find the logbook for me . I do have the original registration plate . What will be the chances of keeping the plate on the car and also what are the costs involved in doing this ? Hi I would...

Re: Authenticity of Vehicles

Hello PAD In my humble opinion, what you're asking is near impossible. The Minor was in production for well over 20 years, went through 3 distinct variants with several other tweeks along the way. A 1971 model will be very different to a 1948, and almost all early cars have received some updates, pa...

Re: Brake light switch for 1960 morris minor

I know you've recently posted about various brake problems. As this is a pressure switch fitted to the brake lines, apologies if 'teaching granny to suck eggs' etc., but have you confirmed there is enough pressure to actually operate the switch? Do the brakes now actually lock the wheels? Are they f...

Re: Door Card Fixings.

Thanks guys. As MM says, a picture paints a 1000 words. I hadn't considered that the clip would hook into the hole, I'd assumed they clipped over the outer edge. You're of course right about the door pulls, well spotted! I noticed when comparing to other cars that they looked a bit high and r...

Door Card Fixings.

Hi all When we brought Basil (SII, 2dr, 1956) he had been through various repairs/restorations over the years and the interior is quite new looking. Unfortunately, whoever did the interior decided to secure the door cards with around 20 brass screws. DSCF8105A.jpg They also have a sheet of foam behi...

Re: Traveller sealant

I'd be a bit wary of diy shop sealants as these are usually silicone based, which can cause problems for any painting needed in the future. ESM do a strip sealer of similar material to DumDum - this is good for initial fixing of the panels to the frames but would not be easy (or pretty) to use as a...

Hi Elinor Mike has given you a comprehensive breakdown of the points from the MOT. There is only one area I would question, just as Mike has done, and that is the Shocks: 11 - Shock absorbers light misting of oil or has limited damping effect Nearside Rear 12 - Shock absorbers light misting of oil o...
