Re: Odd Brake Problem

left side brake cylinder sticking .needs looking at,because in an emergency braking situation could stick again causing, problem, might just need piston cleaning ,and refitting, or new cylinder to be on the safe side. Slamming on the brakes has freed it up.but could stick again.

Re: Overheating

it's obviously the gauge or sender on the block,if it was that hot the water would be boiling out of the filler and the pump is working, because if not the same boiling would happen, but to check the pump, let it warm up with the rad cap off and keep watching the water in the top of the rad. When the t...

Re: Headlining four door saloon

If you are going to do it yourself, don't rip the headlining off the wooded former above the front window frame.Use it to measure the old lining because the new ones are aren't made to measure and they are folded round the former to get the length right. Its a nightmare if you try to calculate the le...

Re: Car cover propping

They really aren't worth the risks, some get away with them other don't. I've come to the conclusion that it depends on the car,if its original paint and was not stood in a field in primer at the works then may not have any moisture in the primer or paint,if the car has been re sprayed at some time i...

Re: Car cover propping

inside just use a cotton dust sheet,or non at all, unless birds can get in and cr....p on it,as long as there is air circulating it will be ok but DO NOT use a waterproof cover even the top price ranges risk condensation forming on the cold bodywork. Its possibly still will form on damp days but uncov...

Re: Car cover propping

The easiest way to keep a car dry in winter is to keep driving it,they were built to be used all weather, there is no doubt covers cause blistering matters not what paint 2k or celly, but if absolutely essential then a cover propped off the bodywork to prevent chaffing and some form of ventilation ,m...

Re: Car cover propping

if you want my advice ,throw it away the quickest way to get micro blisters(Google it) in the roof and bonnet is to use a car cover, even inside Putting pads would b e even worse they would concentrate the wet area and hold it against the paint .A cotton dust cover is ok inside but any that cause con...

Re: Is my clutch on its way out?

the clutch bearing is only in contact with the pressure plate in the clutch system when you press the pedal,it touches nothing at idle with the pedal up,if the noise gets no worse when you press the pedal then unlikely to be realease bearing, which as an aside is a solid carbon ring which dosent move...

Re: Help to brake bleeding

Couple of other things - Do your 1st bleed with the drums off to allow the pistons to extend and retract. Ensure after this that your brakes are correctly adjusted up to the drum before further bleeding. until there is fluid in the cylinder, the pistons will not move, once there is fluid in there wit...

Re: Car painting with spray cans

just remember way back all coaches were painted with a brush, its gets a better coverage but requires a skill, to get a mirror finish, now lost .Spray painting came in because it uses less paint and is a lot quicker. There used to be a paint on the market called Re paint for brush use, where the brush...

Re: Car painting with spray cans

if you mean a full car, roof bonnet etc don't consider it, apart from the cost ,you will never get an acceptable finish. You would be better using a brush or roller with coach paint(brushable cellulose). Or buy a cheap compressor and spray gun
