Re: Car painting with spray cans

just remember way back all coaches were painted with a brush, its gets a better coverage but requires a skill, to get a mirror finish, now lost .Spray painting came in because it uses less paint and is a lot quicker. There used to be a paint on the market called Re paint for brush use, where the brush...

Re: Car painting with spray cans

if you mean a full car, roof bonnet etc don't consider it, apart from the cost ,you will never get an acceptable finish. You would be better using a brush or roller with coach paint(brushable cellulose). Or buy a cheap compressor and spray gun

Re: question for phil

An update......he has now had the comps tested ,by someone who knows what they are doing ,and get readings of 155 approx. on all pots so eliminates head gasket, but looks like he has cured the fault, on my suggestion he has replaced the rotor from the NEW dizzy with an old one from a spare ,and the ...

Re: question for phil

hi phil and rob I also think gasket but the even readings,if they have been checked correctly, and as said no access to car myself would tend to discount that. What would you say was an acceptable comp for a decent 850?.He tells me that the mechanic in france has a good knowledge of A series ,but don...

Re: Accident repairs

the biggest problem you will face is that unless your car is in A1 condition, its value could be under that of the cost of repair so they will write it off ,been there a couple of times, last one was with a campervan, but managed to get them to let me keep vehicle, which I then repaired myself with sec...

Re: Rear Axle question

my 55 leaks just the same ,got into the habit of only ever taking one wheel off at a time with that side jacked well up so the oil runs away from that side. It was a well known fault from new that's why there is a slot in the bottom of the back plate to let any oil drain out and not contaminate the ...

Re: Drivers door problem suggestions needed please

the catches do wear, and instead of being flat and pointed at the tips ,become slightly rounded,so let the catch slip back onto the safety .On mine I carefully re shaped the tip with a file solved the problem, with mine anyway.

Re: Adding an extra silencer

whats not widely known or understood (including by me) is that the design of the exhaust contributes to the performance, changing the distance the gasses have to exit,or adding resistance in the form of baffles, can upset the system, Not sure if this applies to 50 and 60 cars, but probably original sys...

Re: Traveller restoration advice please

seen this many times over the years,if you can't do most of the work yourself, then the rebuild becomes totally uneconomical,it would probably cost as other have said 20 to30 thou for a pro build, to get a car worth 10 to 15. Is the other half paid out worth the sentimental value.? You could sell the...

Re: Buzz & Flicker - Interference or Diodes?

not sure but I think a diode will alow current to flow in one direction so multimeter would show continuity one way and not the other if ok.but if the diodes had failed you would be having trouble with charging .Also if they have failed and you can use a soldering iron, diodes and charging packs can ...
