1275 oil pump
I am still gathering parts to rebuild a 1275 Midget engine to go in a minor. The Hobourn-Eaton HE8100.oil pump looks in good condition, no wear or marks inside. Is it worth fitting a new one which may be not as good quality?? Part No GLP 141 don't know what make. The second point some learned people...

Re: Morris Minor cab/body numbers
Hi Chris
The body No ends in 9225. The last digit was lurking behind the self tapper, sorry.
The coil is on the top of the dynamo.
Onwards and upwards.
Regards Win

Re: How old is my car ?
Hi Do you have any glass, if you have, look for any Triplex marks. These are dots above or below the word TRIPLEX, and or TOUGHENED or ZEBRAZONE. This sequence helps determine the approx. age. Let us know if there is any marks on the glass, and I will look for the info. This info, helped me determin...

1275 timing chain
I am rebuilding a 1275 midget engine, some parts were missing, it had a duplex timing chain, but no cover. I have obtained a cover, it looks like a standard one, except for the breather can and outlet pipe. I need information on which tensioner to use as the duplex sprocket does not use the rubber o...

1275 spares
Can anyone recommend a supplier of parts for a 1275 midget engine.
Gasket sets, bearings, rings, valve guides, oil pump, etc, and a modified thermostat housing,
or, better still, a cheaper alternative for the housing, whats available
Regards Win

Re: head gasket
Hi Oil still leaking from head, as you can see the source appears to be at the front of the head, adjacent to the oil gallery feed to the rockers. The head is now removed, no obvious problem with the head gasket or block. The head and block were scrupulously cleaned, torqued to 20ft lbs, then 45ft l...

Looks like a first class project, well done, you are obviously a well informed young man.
Might be an idea to check insurance situation, before adding too many mods.
All the best.

But I do measure in thous, millimeters, feet and CWT, and manage to drink a half litre can,
no wonder anyone in my vicinity looks bewildered when I speak.

Re: Longer Choke cable woes
On my series 2, the inner cable is soldered into the knob, I used a bicycle brake cable, to replace it. The inner cable was desoldered, new one resoldered in. The old outer was cut off, and the new one reconnected using a 20amp electrical strip connector. Works fine for me, at the right price. Regar...

Re: Speedo reading half the correct speed
A crude way to determine what TPM you need, is as follows. Put a mark on the rear tyre, in line with a mark on the floor. Roll the car forward 1 rev, measure this distance in inches. Divide 63360 (inches in 1 mile) by the distance the wheel moved. Multiply this figure by the diff ratio. Divide this ...

Re: Speedo reading half the correct speed
Of course, Mike is right what should be there, but, if the diff and wheels have not been changed, It is quite possible someone has fitted a 4.5 to 1(2 start worm 9t gear) instead of 2.6 to 1(5 start worm 13t gear), the bore and width of the worm are the same, and it fits in the same place on the mai...
