Re: Where are they now?

Hi Maurice, The white convertible was owned by Ken Jee from the Manchester area, many many years ago. After not seeing him for nearly 40 years we were reacquainted at the Northern Regional Rally/South Cheshire Branch Rally on Sunday 13th August this year. He entered a very nice Series II saloon in t...

Was this the MM clock on 'Fleabay' recently? I was tempted to bid.

Re: Certificate of Conformity

Further to Palacebear's thread above, the SVA has since been superseded by the Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) test which is slightly more onerous. I know as I am building a kit car and will be applying for an IVA test soon. The system is run by VOSA and covers all vehicles, imports, kit cars etc....

Re: MM Boot hinges

The MM boot hinges are quite distinctive to the later 'rounded' type, they end in a very sharp point and almost impossible to find!

And, there's always something that goes wrong just before they hand the cars back to the owners. Staged or what!

But I do enjoy it. :D

Re: A bad reputation created by some 'modern' car drivers ?

Evening All, I haven't been on here for a few weeks but reading this negative thread I thought I would 'chip in' and own up. Whilst I have a Series II Convertible that I am now restoring, my daily driver is an Audi A6. Whilst covering some 40,000 miles over the last twelve months I can report that I...

Re: these wheels..

Apologies - I don't know what the wheels but what a fantastic piece if engineering there must be going on under the bodywork and it is so subtle. There has to be a new chassis under the body and the car probably doesn't have its original inner wings (or any other original structure under the 'skin'....

Re: gearbox color

Hi there TvdWerf? I believe all the MM sidevalve engines and some early Series II (BRITMO 803cc) cars are fitted with 'blue' coloured engines. The exception being gold or silver for reconditioned units. And as far as I know the MM gearboxes were all the same colour 'blue' with recon units being gold...

Re: MM Radiator / Fuel Tank - Wanted

Just looked back at this old post of mine and wanted to let folks know that I found a very decent MM radiator last week. Original and doesn't need to be recored. Its taken some time but I was prepared to wait. Also picked up an MM 'mottled' steering wheel at this year's National Rally (no not the £1...

Re: IDENTITY OF MESSAGE BOARD USERS

I'd like to confirm my name is Ian and I am usually found on the naughty step.

What more does anyone want to know?

I've been a member of the club on and off since 1982. More on than off.

And all the people I want to know who I am, know who I am.

Re: This years National.

I was there on the Sunday. Better weather than Saturday so I heard. One of my favourite cars. A real survivor. Lots of original features from a CKD car exported to Australia (hence the faded paint and patina and oil bath air filter). Painted split ring headlamp bezels with the paint almost polished ...

Re: tourer for sale on car and classic

As others have said above regarding the side screens, I have seen early tourers with home made replacement perspex side screens; made when the originals expired. That wouldn't put me off, but missing split bumpers and the price is.

Nice 'period' padded dashboard. 8)

Re: Today's Tailgater

Unfortunately I haven't quite finished it yet. Oh, and it doesn't have a roof, the doors don't lock and it will probably only do about 10 miles to the gallon if I am lucky with 510 horses under the bonnet. Apart from those issues I am with you 100%. :D

Re: Today's Tailgater

I am a longstanding MMOC member, now restoring a 1952 Convertible and I drive an Audi as my everyday transport.

I should like to apologise on behalf of all Audi drivers for any offence caused. They appear to be getting a bad press on here.
