Re: Stone chips
Seriously though is the grille just painted/sprayed with the same old English white (or snowberry or another White) paint as the equivalent colour bodywork?

Stone chips
I do a fair bit of motorway driving in my 67 Traveller. I'm paying the price now with a few stone chips, mainly on the radiator grille (the standard white colour). Any tips on how to deal with what's already there and prevent, or at least minimise the damage of, more stone chips?

Re: Traveller wood rear post
Thanks John and Panky
In my case the top of the post is certainly not terrible and it flew through its MOT two months ago with no mention being made of it. I'd describe mine as 'just a bit soft'. I've not (yet) owned a Traveller long enough to know how quickly it might deteriorate.

Re: Traveller wood rear post
My issue, as I posted, is that only the very top of the post is dodgy - the rest is solid. Seems a lot of work and expense to replace the full post, but is that the inevitable outcome?

Traveller wood rear post
The very top centimetre or so of the offside rear post on my car is looking dodgy. It's been filled before but that now has cracks. The rest of the post, and all other wood, is in great condition. What's the best course of action? e.g. Do nothing, leave it to get worse gradually and wait for more wo...

Re: Blotches
Thanks. Either could be possible. The position of the blotches is consistent with where a small bit of direct sunlight shines down in the mornings and I know from your other posts that there's an issue with UV and those covers. Given the problem has occurred in the last few weeks, it could be a combo...

Blotches
Anyone shed light on these 'blotches' which have appeared on the roof? Car is a Rose Taupe Traveller. The roof is still smooth to touch e.g. if I close my eyes and run my hand over it, I can't obviously feel anything - so they seem to be under the surface somehow. Only other thing to disclose is the...

YRF999H Trafalgar Blue
Anyone know the whereabouts of this one? Checked DVLA and it shows it's taxed.
A friend of mine used to own it and fascinated to know where it is now.

Re: Private messages
Alas as a result of that glitch I missed out on someone's for sale item. As well as stopping me logging in at all, it stopped notifying me of PMs received so I didn't get the seller's message confirming the sale. It's now been snapped up by someone else... Did anyone else have problems on Tues...

Re: What a difference a Diff makes
It's currently wrapped up in bubble wrap, in a bag, in a box. Like pass the parcel! Reckon that will be ok?Roni wrote:Store the diff with the nose pointing up to keep any contaminants/dirt from getting into the front bearing. A small bucket works well.

Headlamp chrome
Is this rust terminal and do I need new chrome, or can I get rid of surface rust? If so, what with?[frame][/frame]
And if I need a new rim, anyone know the part name/number and where's best to get it from? Can't see these mentioned in Club Spares.

Re: What a difference a Diff makes
The people looking for a 4.55 ratio are usually looking to replace like for like but quite a few people like your self raise the diff (or lower it to be precise) ratio exactly for the reasons you quote. The ATA carrier assy and 4.55 ratio fitted to the Minor 1000 - 948cc is more than serviceable bu...
